Moscow's top diplomat accuses Ukraine's Zelensky of only 'pretending' to negotiate to end war, says 'goodwill has its limits'
MOSCOW-Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Monday that peace talks with Ukraine would continue, while warning there was a "real" danger of a World War III.
Speaking to Russian news agencies, he criticized Kiev's approach to the talks, adding: "Goodwill has its limits. But if it isn't reciprocal, that doesn't help the negotiation process.
But we are continuing to engage in negotiations with the team delegated by (Ukrainian President Vololdymyr) Zelensky, and these contacts will go on."
Lavrov accused former actor Zelensky of "pretending" to negotiate. "He's a good actor," he said. But he added: "If you watch attentively and read attentively what he says, you'll find a thousand contradictions."
Given the current tensions, Lavrov said the danger of a World War III was "real".
"The danger is serious, it is real, you can't underestimate it," Lavrov told the Interfax news agency...

Take your “goodwill” Lavrov, and shove it where the Sun don’t shine. There can be only defeat and death for you and yours. You have gone too far to ever re-enter human society. Putin and Lavrov must die for what they have done.

this trick is pretty much as old as recorded history (older, one assumes). when domestic problems are insurmountable and unavoidable, start a war.
the US has had a very beligerent posture from day 1 (before day 1). no one is calling for negotiations. ukraine takes positions that make good feel-good sound-bites and make zero sense in the real world (like demanding return of crimea).
I can only assume the US/UK sank the moskva, or held a ukrainian hand to push the button. I do not believe ukr. has developed the capability for the attacks on targets inside russia independently either.
but it is a win-win for the US - we want this to escalate and save the democrats from the midterms.

It’s amazing how pathetic Russia has performed in this conflict. But before I high five myself too much, I remember Afghanistan just a year ago.
