Inflation Got You Down? At Least You Don’t Live in Argentina.
The Wall Street Journal ^ | April 25, 2022 | Silvina Frydlewsky and Juan Forero

BUENOS AIRES—Shopkeeper Jonathan Faez has a word of advice to people around the world obsessing about inflation: Chill out.

“I have friends in the United States and Spain and they’re telling me they’re going crazy with their annual inflation of 5% or 7%,” says Mr. Faez, owner of a lingerie store. “Here, we reach 4% almost every month!”

Welcome to Argentina, where high, nearly uncontrollable inflation—now at an estimated 55.1% over the past year—is as natural as the country’s juicy sirloins and sensual tango shows.

With the rest of the world experiencing higher inflation—byproduct of supply chain crunches, heavy stimulus spending and the war in Ukraine—Argentina offers something of a window to those who fret about just how high inflation will go and what it will mean to their everyday lives.

They’ve had practice: In the late ’80s, runaway government spending sent inflation soaring above 3,000%, and after a period of relative stability the figure has been creeping up again, reaching 6.7% in March alone, the highest in 20 years.

“Here 40% is normal,” says Mr. Faez. “And when we get past 50%, it doesn’t scare us, it simply bothers us.”

“At least we’re not Argentina” is probably the worst democrat campaign strategy yet. They will stick with election stealing.

annual inflation of 5% or 7%,” says Mr. Faez, owner of a lingerie store.

Isn’t lingerie always going up in price? demand driven?

I have tried to post about Argentina on this forum and get little to no response. If folks don’t want to learn, I am content to not in any way change that.

Bought some 3/4 inch PVC pipe glue-on joins. They are about two inches long and they let you glue to pieces of PVC pipe together. Two weeks ago they were .49 each. Today they were .99 each.

In the ‘80s, we got out $#it together and hired Paul Volcker to tame inflation. Bad news is that we have no one like him coming up.

The monetary policies of the Federal Reserve board, led by Volcker, were widely credited with curbing the rate of inflation and expectations that inflation would continue. US inflation, which peaked at 14.8 percent in March 1980, fell below 3 percent by 1983.

The RINO anti-Trumpers at the WSJ hopes to influence gullible fools with this nonsense.
Americans could not care less about the plight of Argentinian inflation. We care about our own. We know how great we had it 2 years ago. And, we know how bad things are right now. For us.
