The New Development About the Man Who Killed Himself in Front of the Supreme Court

Rebecca had this SCOTUS story last Friday. What the hell is going on in Washington, DC?

It was a hellacious week in the capital. The DC Police issued a general evacuation order for the Capitol Complex after an aircraft that may have posed a danger was detected. It turned out the unknown parachuters were members of the US Army Golden Knights doing a jump for the Washington Nationals baseball game.

Then, there was a shooting that left at least three people injured. The suspect was later found dead near the scene. And then, there was this suicide in front of the Supreme Court. A man decided to pull a "Buddhist monk in Saigon" and set himself on fire. He later died of his injuries. His name was Wynn Bruce, and he was a climate activist from Boulder, Colorado (via NY Post):

A climate activist who lit himself on fire on Earth Day outside the United States Supreme Court Building has died, according to reports.

Wynn Bruce, 50, of Boulder, Colorado, died Saturday, a day after he set himself ablaze in Washington, D.C., the Metropolitan Police Department told Fox News.

The incident happened around 6:30 p.m. on the plaza in front of the court building.

He was airlifted to a local hospital, where he died.

A Facebook page belonging to a person named Wynn Bruce said he was a Buddhist and a climate activist.

In 2020, Bruce left a cryptic Facebook comment that included a fire emoji and the date of his death, 4/22/2022.

Police are still investigating the motive, but I'm sorry—that's a bit ironic. The climate activist committed suicide by dousing himself in fossil fuels. Look, there are a lot of walls you crash into being on the left. We all know this.

Cheap imitation of a Buddhist monk.

If you believe CO2 is such a threat to the earth that you want to set yourself on fire, do us all a favor and use a plastic bag over your head to end your contribution of CO2.

It’s a lot less messy.

Being a tad dyslectic, when I first read this, Wynn Bruce came through my brain as Wayne, Bruce. So my firstest thought was, No more stupid Batman movies. Sorry to say, it was simply another nutter.

article: "A climate activist who lit himself on fire on Earth Day outside the United States Supreme Court"

The dope was 50 years too late. Self-imolation has lost its shock value. It is barely worth mentioning today.

Now BASE jumping off the Sears Tower in a gasoline doused flaming wing-suit would have been more interesting, and might have caught my attention.

Of course I saw a picture of the guy (not on fire). He looks like the kind of nebbish you'd see in a vegan restaurant or as a clerk in a feminist book store. He had a bald head and little beard and glasses, the complete uniform of a born loser.

Gallon of petrol.
Butane lighter.
Burning polyester and cotton rags.
Ambulances and cop cars racing to scene.
Shock trauma helicopter fly in and out.
All to protest man’s carbon footprint.

He was from Boulder?
A competent police force would have identified and tracked that woke POS and then kicked he/she/it/whatever so hard that they would have landed in China.

There aren’t enough LE assets to track all the nutjobs from Boulder. The place is crazy.

That’s Boulder for you. Filled with absolute lunatics. I don’t live in Boulder, but because of the nature of my previous job I had to make a presentation to their city council once about an issue that had some in the community stirred up.

While I will admit that they were very organized and relatively respectful, compared to some other cities in which I had to do the same (likely because they’re so used to being such civic busy-bodies and dealing with the process), they were quite “unique” in the way that they recited self-authored poetry, cried, and generally just melted down emotionally when it came their turn to comment. Oh, and there was tie-dye, lots of tie-dye. The hardest part was having to stand up on the same platform as the council members and try not to burst out laughing at their lunacy.

The biggest difference with the Supreme Court idiot is that he found a larger stage upon which to display his emotional breakdown.

The sad part is that he is probably wishing for the coolness of the fire that sent him to where he is now.

Pollutes the air with gasoline fumes, more pollution because likely a CO emitting fire truck was almost certainly called in, water and gasoline into the sewerage system, traffic disruption resulting in greater emissions from vehicles delayed, and likely a lot more.

He could have offed hisself more green with a dagger into his own heart, but no, he wanted to go out with flare.

I worked at a company where a young black male told his work mates, he was going to kill his girlfriend’s father that night and nobody reported him. He also said that if it went badly, he’d kill himself with fire because he thought that would be an easy way to go. Again, nobody said anything.

That night the father got home and, wearing a mask, he accosted the older, fifty-ish man with a pump .22. The gun got off one shot and then jammed as he tried to load another round. The old man (ten years younger than me now) got the gun away from him and pulled off the mask. The younger man grabbed a knife and chased the father into the yard where the father jumped into a car and locked the doors.

The young man went to a store, bought a gallon of gas in a bucket and went door to door...with a bucket of gas, asking for a match. On the third door someone gave him matches. (Seriously, there’s so much wrong here I don’t know where to begin.) He went out to the mailbox and doused himself with gas and finally got a match to light. It took him three days to die.

As a manager where he worked, I recommended firing the entire work cell who all admitted to foreknowledge of what he said he’d do. But they hired councilors instead.

I relate this story to say that there are other people out there who have this weird idea that lighting yourself on fire is a thing you should consider doing.

Who hired him in the first place? I've worked in places where getting involved in a lunatic's life was nothing but mortal risk and "management" who hired him in the first place wasn't going to do anything about it, especially if the person was of a privileged class.

Report him at your own peril because he'll add you to his hate manifesto and then go after you.
