The poster Simplicius76 has a large number of videos of the war, most from a Russian point-of-view.
It's unfortunate and a little surprising how divided Free Republic has become over this war, I don't remember this level of division on many other issues. (Except for open GOP Presidential Primaries perhaps?)
My purpose in posting this is to privide Freepers with access to rare primary-source documentation on the war, and should not be used to infer or imply my support for either side in the conflict. Mostly I see the war as a terrible thing for the innocent families caught in the middle of it.
Try to keep the comments and discourse between ourselves respectful, as is required by the forum, and as Free Republic has a long tradition of maintaining respectful discourse.
We can do it guys!
What flag is that?
Maybe you could give us a detailed description of this video, being as how it doesn’t load.
Thanks, Vlad, for giving us the information to base our own judgments on.
Worth a try!
;>)
Donetsk People’s Republic , supposedly. One of the 2014 breakaway states the Russians carved out of Ukraine.
Wikipedia article: Donetsk People's Republic.
You may remember that a few days before the Russians invaded Ukraine that President Putin recognized the two break-away states (the other being the Luhansk People's Republic) as a prelude to the invasion.
Here's the flag of the Donetsk People's Republic, per Wikipedia:
Map of the territory controlled and claimed by the DPR:
I believe Mariupol is the light green dot surrounded by dark green, on the Black Sea, towards the bottom of the map.
They are gonna need a bigger flag.
Apparently it is associated with the Donetsk People's Republic...
;>)
Gotcha. So are they stating their independence, their allegiance to Russia, or some type of hybrid?
Weird to think that Sea of Azov has an average of 23 feet depth, and many of the bays and areas close to shore are 3 to 5 feet. Ships stick to main channels that are dredged. But it’s not a body of water you can operate in normally.
Thank you.
It is always intelligent to look at both sides first, before forming an opinion.
Bitchute isn't nearly as robust as YouTube, and has periodic interruptions in service. Some might even be caused by 20 people trying to load the same video at once.
I also experienced a failure trying to view this in the last few minutes, but it's now working for me.
In case you can not get it to load I will describe it as you requested:
The video shows a soldier on top of a platform on a very tall radio communications tower who has unfurled the flag of the DPR there. He stands at attention, and then the camera pans back and forth and you see the coast of the black sea, and the city far below. There is briefly what appears to be a war ship below him, which due to the perspective of the camera at that moment looks like it is above his arm.
There is no spoken soundtrack, but the sound of the wind blowing against the microphone is heard. The video last for about 30 seconds.
Russian Speakers will gain a lot from these, however I am not a Russian speaker.
Unfortunately, there are no subtitles for the statement made by the Russian soldier, so I'm outta luck.
Just speculation, it might be the Russian Flag used for this particular Military Campaign to distinguish it from the standard Russian Federation tricolor.
DPR FLAG RAISED ON HIGHEST POINT IN MARIUPOL AFTER LIBERATION”
Liberation? Seriously?
When you have a gun to your head, you will raise whatever flag the person with the gun wants you to raise.
The video played fine for me, as well as many others.
But I should not have watched, just before lunch, the one of wounded Azov guys under the steel plant rotting away from gangrene.
The Donetsk People’s Republic, (they are still using that old communist designation) which appears to be a wretched hive of scum and villainy.
Says the FReeper with less than two years here and the username Vlad?
Seriously?
