The practice of billionaire NFL owners convincing state politicians to give them hundreds of millions in taxpayer money to subsidize their stadiums is alive and well.
The latest example of this can be found in Tennessee, where the state legislature – House and Senate – passed a budget that includes $500 million for a new Titans stadium in Nashville, according to the Tennessean.

These days, I wouldn’t go to Nashville on a bet. Another Urban Hellhole.
Secondly, Dave Ramsey is a HUGE Titans fan. Wonder what his take is on this Taxpayer Free For All?
(He hates Mother Government almost as much as I do...)
Are they at least going to build something that's enclosed so we can host a Super Bowl and/or NCAA championship?!?
Nashville is broke. The streets are full of potholes. The traffic is a nightmare.
$ 500 million is just the first installment. Guaranteed !
The politicians are happy.
RTR
Kickbacks for everyone. Except the taxpayers.
They built a soccer stadium in Sandy Utah. Near Salt Lake city. The cost was nearly a billion dollars. For a Soccer Stadium! The issue was put up to the voters twice and shot down overwhelmingly. So the developers found another way for the govt to underwrite their “investment”. The Soccer Stadium is there and the taxpayers are still on the hook.
My understanding is that every stadium in America loses money. If soccer fans want a stadium, then take up a collection.
I just Googled it. Yes, an enclosed stadium, total price tag of as much as 2 billion. Dumb, silly, extravagant, wasteful, but at least they’re going to build something that can be used for more than 10 Sundays in the fall.
Look at L.A. Their new stadium was built 100% by private money.
In other words, location is everything
What exactly is the problem with the stadium that opened in 1999, seating capacity about 69,000. Do they need a bigger stadium? Do they want the fancy boxes? Brother is a Cowboys’ fan. They’re playing there next season. Not far from Louisville, might consider going.
Bankrupt NY has that beat by $100 million for a new Bills stadium, Hochul is of course from there. Outside of NYC, Buffalo was the only metro area won by Cuomo in his last election, so they also received the Buffalo Billion to finance that now worthless solar panel plant in South Buffalo for Musk. My buddy who lives there is always bragging about how much money and investment is flowing into that city, I guess kissing the democrat’s a$$ pays off big in this state.
don't forget to get your property taxes in ....mine went up about $800 a year.
Is it a loan that gets paid back or just free money ?
If the voters don’t object why shouldn’t they make the taxpayers pay for it?
You’re right. If I were a Nashville/Tennessee taxpayer I’d want to hear a price tag for upgrading the existing structure.
The current stadium has fancy boxes. I don’t know what they hope to gain with a new stadium. As I say, I think it’s dumb to have built an outdoor stadium which is precluded from hosting Super Bowls, NCAA football or basketball championships, or even SEC football championships by climate.
We are hugh Titans fans from HSV. Glad we don’t have to pay series taxes for the stadium!
Taxpayers should not be forced to subsidize stadiums for billionaire owners for their millionaire players.

I haven’t been back to the place of my birth in five years. I just found out they demolished the beautiful old house I was raised in and was built by my Grandfathers Uncle to build a man-bun, coastal asshole shotgun house. Burn in hell spineless hipsters and may your children be sired by other men of which you have no knowledge.
I guess I can scratch Tennessee off my list of places to retire to, they are just plain STUPID
One thing Los Angeles got right, waiting for someone willing to open his own wallet for the new stadium. Stan Kroenke spent 4 billion dollars of his own money and gets to reap the reward of SoFi Stadium, charging rent to the Chargers as well as collecting off of the Rams.
Except for ancillary expenses (which should be more than made up by tax/business revenue) such as connecting roads, etc. The taxpayers of CA spent nothing. They get to waste it on trains to nowhere instead.
