Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s effort to bus migrants to the nation’s capital has brought just around 70 migrants to Washington, D.C. in three separate bus loads.
The first bus, which arrived in D.C. on Wednesday morning, had 24 migrants from Colombia, Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua, and, the second bus, which arrived during the early morning hours on Thursday, had 14 migrants from the aforementioned countries, Abbott spokesperson Sheridan Nolen told the Daily Caller News Foundation. A third bus arrived with around 30 migrants on Friday morning, according to Fox News.
Abbott pledged April 8 that he would bus migrants to D.C. after the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced it would lift Title 42, the public health order used to expel migrants during the pandemic.
Each bus can accommodate 40 passengers, the Texas Department of Emergency Management (TDEM) told the Daily Caller News Foundation.
The migrants have to voluntarily choose to board Abbott’s buses. Once they arrive in D.C., the migrants are helped by groups like Catholic Charities, which gives them a list of programs and services they offer, and can offer to refer them to other nonprofits in the area, organization spokesperson Kate Kennedy to the DCNF.
After they have been dropped off at D.C.’s Union Station, the migrants are able to get train, bus or metro tickets to their destination.
It’s unclear how much the busing will set back taxpayers as the TDEM hasn’t provided information on the operation’s total cost, nor the cost of each bus trip…

Why should he foot part of the bill to ship them around the country?
Because when the liberals meet them and send them further along right off the bus, that’s essentially what he’s doing.

If governors like DeSantis and Abbott wanted to end illegal immigration to their states they could do so in five minutes by imposing fines and criminal sanctions for anyone employing them.
They don’t because they are funded by businesses addicted to cheap labor. Instead it’s photo ops and showmanship to appease the base.
Yup, what Abbott is doing sire is useless. Ivory is talking about the migrant problem at all because of this.

It’s “voluntary” busing. They probably generally prefer to be in a border state than D.C.
Ship them to California instead. More would surely sign up for that.
I rather just dump all the illegals off at the base in Cuba. Not many would come here after that.
It’s theater. Such a pity. It would be worth the cost to up the number to a level that is painful for the fascists in DC. Much more likely to actually accomplish something positive.

Theater is a working strategy. It inexpensively puts the problem into the news cycle, and into the consciousness of people who otherwise wouldn’t see the problem.

He can only bus them if they volunteer. Otherwise, he’d be violating law.

If he was actually serious, he could bus a hundred thousand of the MIVs each month until he was ahead of the incoming tide at the border...
Also, if he was serious, his TX Guard troopers could get out of hand and stop the MIV invasion just like the Guardsmen at Kent State put a stop to the college riots back in the day...
Two or three accidental volleys by confused troops would stem the tide again...

While I agree with you, we need much more than that. They have to hurt, not just look bad. We are in a war and losing it. The point of no return is no longer a vague, far off concept. It is almost right in front of us.
$50 or $100 million would be a well spent investment if used to dump illegals in downtown DC and/or other leftist bastions. Especially if done by several red states.
I’d like - no, love - to see about 10 busloads dumped in my BIL’s gated community. He and his commie wife vacation in expensive Mexican resorts and he seems to honestly believe that all the Mexicans coming over the border are just like the obsequous ones waiting on them at the resort.
Well, the feds are doing it....probably illegal for them.
I believe it could be finessed to get a painful number into DC.
