Depending on the side you choose to believe, the ship was either hit by 2x R-360 "Neptun" ASMs, or suffered a catastrophic ammunition fire. You decide.

The Russians published pictures of the crew to prove they were rescued...

The photos, and the video they were from showed somewhere around 50 to 80 people. The ship normally has a much larger crew. It is likely many sailors were lost.

I am surprised that it has taken this long for any photos to emerge. But still no word from the Russians on the fate of the crew.

They were either all killed or all rescued, depending on which side you listen to. (Hope this helps)

That one’s been photoshopped. So was the previous one, which have been pulled... I can’t find my reply to it.

Oh, yeah. That ship was killed and there was no saving it. Any word as to the crew who might have been rescued or did Putin have them all executed for hurting his feelings?

Yeah, that was the vulnerability of that design. The sixteen very large missiles it carried on deck in paired box launchers were an enormously powerful one shot punch, but they were strictly a ‘use it or lose it’ design when the ship came under attack.

Either one of the missiles detonated due to technical issues or a missile/fragments hit one or more of the launchers and set it/them off - the launchers could not be heavily armored.

It would be Watts per square meter - and any answer would be classified.

Virtually all military equipment and most critical infrastructure are EMP hardened.

The EMP threat, while once fierce, is now nearly obsolete.

That is a pretty cool chess set! I haven’t played in YEARS, but if I had the cash to spare, I’d pick this up.

It had 3 layers of defense weapons and it still got hit by 2 missiles. The long range missiles are S-300 system, than it has a close in missile system, lastly a gatling gun system for terminal course missiles that get thru the first 2 layers.

S-300 is a very capable system by itself. No way that ship should have been hit by these missiles. More has to be going on because something didn’t work.
