--- "Danke, Merkel."

When we lived in Germany, I would regularly speak to the issue of energy and independence. Many very nice Germans would simply be unable to comprehend that industry runs on energy, in cold weather homes are warmed by energy, and goods are distributed using energy. The Big Media there had sold them over decades that energy comes out of a wall plug, so to speak. So they -- wealthy compared to other European nations -- could just buy it when they wanted. Foolish. The green politics "NEIN Danke" bumper stickers rejecting nuclear energy where ubiquitous. Merkel simultaneously led Germany into dependence on Russian energy along with "wir schaffen es" mass Islamic migration, well beyond the Turkish influence from after WWII. "Danke Merkel" is exactly right.

Ostensibly a daughter of a preacher, she sold her nation's birthright for a pot of "red stew" (Genesis 25). It turns out it was Red stew.

What are you talking about? The Germans were ready to sell off Ukraine to keep their addiction to Putin’s oil.

Thank you, but please consider that it has been the long-time goal of the Deep State in Germany to utterly ruin the entire country.

To do so, they first would have to cripple the economy, which is best achieved by destroying the energy supply.

Another matter is the fact that the Deep State has been handing out German passports like candy in the last 22 years.
And whom do the naturalized aliens vote for? You guessed it, the green/leftist candidates, the bootlickers of the Deep State.

P. S.:

I found the story of your family in the other thread very affecting.
Heart-rending, just like the entire saga of the War between the States and the endless sorrow it caused.

Dude - or Madam, if you are a girl - I’m not sure about the state where you live but weird economic times have started some very interesting companies. One that I stay in touch with is “Landbox” (landbox.com).

This company offers plots of land for cash sales, no bank financing. The prices on some of these plots are absolutely amazing. Yes, a lot of it is not what you would call “rich farm land” but it’s rural and a lot of it is in really nice places where there will be a town fairly close by but you’re just looking at mountains and trees where you are.

Again, they may not be operating in your state, but do check it out. Some of their offerings are less than $1000 an acre.

yes, my family’s next generation, thanks to our Grandpa that survived the war has so far produced 5 of his kids who produced 7 kids and those 7 kids produced so far a total of 5 kids who have produced 3 kids.

Imagine how many thousands of families who just didn’t happen due to the war. Thank you for your comments.

P.S.: and I often have imagined how many family trees this war cut short, and how dreadfully much sorrow it caused on a personal level.
When I was living in Charlottesville, VA, I once had the chance to visit Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond. A sobering day it was, to say the least, of sorrow, of prayer and of remembrance.

And yes, with apologies to everybody pro-Union, I do have sympathy with the Confederates (though, avowedly, with the institution of slavery, not so much).
Still, I believe, that this problem would have been eventually solved in an amicable way, even without the War.

Unfortunately, we will never know...

My grandpa and his brother and his brother’s son were just plain ole SIMPLE country boys. Their neighbors were going off to fight the Yankee’s so “By God” they were going too ...simple as that!

Their ancestors are still here today and in my opinion still feel that very same way. If a Civil War were to break out the same feelings would hold today.

I can’t swear my Grandpa did not like slavery but I would bet a lot of money he did not. He was too poor to own slaves and all my family have to much RESPECT in them to enjoy or tolerate abuse of another human being. But, “them DAMN Yankee’s aren’t going to push us around!”

I absolutely can relate to your words, Sir.

They must have thought to themselves: “Who are those gentlemen in the federal Government in faraway DC, who think they can push us around with impunity? Who do they think they are? Are they permitted to do so by the Constitution? Don’t think so.

If they up there in DC want slavery to go, okay, let’s discuss this issue without ire - most of us white Southerners are no slave-owners anyway, and thus neutral to the institution of slavery - while not a few of us are in fact opposed to owning a fellow human being as property, as if he or she were a bed or a kitchen table.”

And yes, I could relate to them very well... :-)
