A ‘sharp recession’ lies ahead for Germany should it be cut off from the Russian gas it is so badly addicted to.
Germany’s energy situation does not appear to be getting any better, with a recently released report suggesting that the country would fall into a “sharp recession” should it suddenly lose access to Russian gas.
While Europe as a whole appears keen to implement harsh embargos on Russian energy imports, Germany’s chronic addiction to Russian gas has put a wrench in such works, with authorities in the country having expressed disbelief as to how the addiction issue was ever able to become so bad in the first place.Though politicians have been sparring with each other regarding who is to blame for the crisis, what is clear that the Russian gas habit has now put the German economy in mortal peril, with a report published on Wednesday predicting a serious recession should Russian gas disappear overnight.
“If gas supplies were to be cut off, the German economy would undergo a sharp recession,” said Stefan Kooths, vice-president of the Kiel Institute for the World Economy which is responsible for penning the study.
The report claims that such a cut-off would result in €220 billion of German economic activity being put at risk over two years, though Kooths warned that knee-jerk policy reactions to this danger could cause issues elsewhere.
“Policymakers should be careful not to provide poorly targeted transfers to cushion high energy prices,” the economy expert said. “If such support schemes are handed out on a wide front, it will further drive up inflation and undermine the important signaling effect of higher energy prices.”
“This in turn exacerbates the problems of low-income households and increases overall economic costs,” he went on to say.

Over recent decades, the German people via the representatives and President they elected, shot one toe off (coal), reloaded and then shot another toe off (nuclear) and then reloaded and shot another toe off (wasting billions on wind) and then reloaded and shot another toe off (solar) and then reloaded and shot another toe off (unfetterred muslim immigration) and then shot their whole damn foot off at the ankle by becoming reliant on the Russians for Gas.
I have no sympathy for the German people, they are penultimate fools.
I don’t see a down side to this.
A ‘recession’ might mean I will have a chance to buy some farmland.
The free flow of fuel, fertilizer, and food should not be messed with to make political points.
The Germans were once one of the worlds leaders in nuclear technology.
They committed suicide.
I wonder if those German UN representatives are still laughing at our president when he told them that they were too dependent on Russian Gas and warned them?

Germany and the globalists would sacrifice 1000 times the population of Ukraine for Russian regime change. The Germans and globalists will appoint a wonderful leader with deep state to go. We will love this, or else.

Correct. We need to ween ourselves off of China specifically as much as possible. Trump has the right idea. First require all the vital stuff such as PPE, antibiotics, rare earths, components of weapons systems, etc to be made domestically.
Obviously get rid of Gaia worshipping regulations that increase the cost of doing business and produce as much of our own energy as possible - this also makes domestic manufacturing more competitive.
Next, nudge the tariff rate on Chinese goods up from 10% to 20%. Then a year or so later, 30%. Then 40% etc.
It’s a noble cause, but you’d need a class of peons willing to work a sweatshops for 5 a day to get where.
