The suspect in a number of murders and attempted murders in Jerusalem is Wassim Assayed, an ISIS terrorist who has been arrested and released several times, and has acted for nationalist motives. His investigation revealed that he was looking for his victims at random, and set himself the goal of murdering Jews in the belief that this would advance ISIS 'aspirations and ideology.

More than three years later, the murder of the Kadouri couple was solved at their home in the Armon Hanatziv neighborhood - and now it can be reported that it was a nationalist attack, by an ISIS-supporting terrorist who acted alone, and is also responsible for the murder of a Moldavian worker in the Arnona neighborhood of Jerusalem a month ago. The same terrorist is also responsible for the attempted murder of the Hadar Bezalel girl in the Commissioner’s Palace, just a day before the murder of the Kadouri couple.
On January 13, 2019, the police received a report of the murder of a couple in their apartment in the Armon Hanatziv neighborhood of Jerusalem. Large police forces were called to the scene and the investigation of the case was entrusted to the Jerusalem Sq. Using a knife that led to her injury, following which an investigation was opened.
About a month ago, on 21.3.2022 at night, the police received a report of an incident of violence in an apartment in the Arnona neighborhood of Jerusalem. Two wounded were found at the scene as a result of knife stabs, foreign nationals from Moldova working in the country, and later the death of one of them was determined. Police forces began collecting findings and evidence and the investigation, which was initially conducted by the unit for fighting crime in the Kedem area, was transferred to the Central Unit of the Jerusalem District.

As part of further investigative actions carried out, his interrogation at the GSS and the Central Unit of the Jerusalem District revealed that during January 2019, Assyed murdered the late Tamar and Yehuda Kadouri by stabbing them in their home in Jerusalem in a stabbing attack. It also emerged that the day before, Assyed tried to stab another girl in the same area and led to her injury, also on a nationalist background.
It should be noted that between 2015 and 2018, Assyed was banned due to activity in the Islamic State infrastructure that planned to carry out quality attacks against Israeli targets. After his release from prison in Israel, he was detained by the PA for several months and in January 2019, several months after his release from prison in Israel and a few days after his release from PA custody, Assayed was arrested again by Israeli security forces, prosecuted for incitement and membership in a hostile organization. The imprisonment - was transferred to a long administrative detention of about two and a half years, from which he was released only recently.
The terrorist’s interrogation revealed that his activities stemmed from his support for the ideology of the Islamic State, to which he had previously sworn allegiance.
The investigation, which is currently being completed with the assistance of the forensic identification system at the police and the Institute of Forensic Medicine, was conducted with the Jerusalem District Attorney’s Office, which filed a prosecutor’s statement in court today with the intention of filing an indictment against him in the coming days.

Wassim Assayed, a 34-year-old Palestinian from Hebron, is the suspect in the January 13, 2019 fatal stabbing of Yehuda, 71, and Tamar, 68, in their apartment in Jerusalem’s Armon Hanatziv neighborhood.
He is also the suspect in the murder of Ivan Tarnowski, a 37-year-old Moldovan national who was stabbed along with another Moldovan national on March 21, 2022 in the Arnona neighborhood of Jerusalem.

A timeline of Assayed’s rampage:
January 9th, 2019 — Wassim Assayed attempts to murder Hadar Betzalel, 15 at the time, in Armon Hanatziv.
January 10th, 2019 — Assayed stabs and murders the Kadouris in their home. The terrorist saw Yehuda Kadouri leaving his home and entered to find Tamar Kadouri alone. After stabbing her to death, he waited for the husband to return and managed to kill Yehuda despite his attempts to fight off the armed man.
January 11th, 2019 — The terrorist flees the Kadouri home after staying the night.
January 12th, 2019 — Assayed is arrested for affiliation with the Islamic State. Police are still unaware of his involvement in the murder of the Kadouris.
January 13th, 2019 — The bodies of the Kadouris are found in their home.
March 21st, 2022 — Assayed murders Moldovan national Ivan Tarnowski.
