There's a word for laws which penalize showing off wealth in public. Some of these laws were instituted during the Renaissance to minimize agitation associated with envy.

(When I tried to look up the term, all I got were hits for laws which prevented poor people from dressing up and pretending to be in a higher station.)

It seems like we might need to reinstate some of those anti-envy laws for the safety of our wonderful, stunning, and brave celebrities.
