“They Thought People Would Pay For CNN”: CNN+ Is A Hilarious Failure
https://thebluestateconservative.com ^ | April 12, 2022 | by Wayne Dupree

It’s not a shock to you or me that CNN+ is crashing and burning. We could have told the CNN bosses this idea wouldn’t work… and we could have told Chris Wallace that his move to CNN+ would be an epic disaster.

The writing was on the wall. But the left lives in a clueless, out-of-touch bubble, especially the beltway liberals. They are on a whole ‘nother astral plane of cluelessness. And now, as we suspected, the bottom is already falling out, and it was just rolled out. Here come the job cuts…

Axios is reporting that investment and projections for CNN+ are expected to be cut dramatically in response to a low adoption rate, two sources tell Axios.

By the numbers: The news giant was initially planning to invest around $1 billion in the service over the next four years. Hundreds of millions of dollars are expected to be cut from that original investment total.

To date, around $300 million has been spent on the subscription service, which includes a sizable marketing investment. The new company’s leadership team still has yet to decide the ultimate fate of CNN+. CNN’s new boss, Chris Licht, will start May 1. So, why did this happen?

It’s simple…

The company bigwigs made a huge mistake by actually thinking people would PAY for CNN.

THEY… THOUGHT… PEOPLE… WOULD… PAY… FOR… CNN https://t.co/fzZr3j8Ony

— Greg Price (@greg_price11) April 12, 2022

You can’t take the same untrusted, unlikeable “talent” that’s been accused of peddling fake news for years and place them on a “streaming” service and expect people who wouldn’t watch for free, to pay to watch.

It makes no sense.

And adding one smarmy guy from Fox News (Chris Wallace), who most loyal CNN viewers wrongly think is a “Republican bad guy,” isn’t going to boost your broken brand. Also, there aren’t enough Fox viewers who “love” Chris Wallace and are willing to follow him to CNN to make a dent in their subscriptions. I’d be shocked if there were 5 of those people on planet earth.

If CNN wants to gain back viewers, they need to get rid of about 90 percent of its current so-called “talent” and get really humble with the American people – apologize for partisanship, and running fake stories, and promise to do better.

Until they do that, no new ventures will succeed.

Probably just washing money through it; are schools signing up for it? Move the taxpayers’ money to Gubmint Propaganda Central.

Maybe have the gubmint buy time for COVID vax ads?

You would have thought that they would have learned from Megyn's example.

Zucker destroyed CNN and actually thought he could take his hyper partisan lying crap to streaming.

Their target audience is Democrats, people who don't like to pay for anything. They want the government to provide things to them.

How could CNN not know this?

CNN's product is worthless. There is more real news on the Cartoon Network.

That they thought huge numbers of people would pay extra to watch their leftwing propaganda is evidence of their delusions.

Fwiw, YouTube has all 14 seasons of the Forensic Files.

Peter Thomas, the narrator for the series, had an interesting life and carrer.

My personal opinion--look at the decline in subscription rates for newspapers that started in the 1990s. Yes, the rise of online news and the way consumers get their news did change. However, one element that wasn't talked about (or barely talked about) was content.

Purely anecdotal, but from what I could glean, people were getting turned off by the increasing one way slant in the way the news was reported, and the tone from some journalists along the lines of "we're going to tell you what a s****y person you are, and expect you to continue paying us to do it".
Also, newspapers increasingly reported on national/foreign news at the expense of local news, and even local news was written in the context of a national "narrative".

The theme I was picking up was "why would I pay for that?"

Guess that cushy airport contract expiring wasn't good for CNN. The trend of cord cutting--less of those carrier fees being spread around--isn't helping either.

I think we're seeing similar dynamic playing out that happened with newspapers.

Failures who watch CNN have no money to pay for CNN. Being inferior and unequal, they have no money

Liberals think they are always the smartest people in the room.
If you look at the other people in the room with them, you’ll know why..........................

I would accept a bribe to watch CNN.

One million dollars.

Per day.

I’ve been travelling quite a bit the last 18 months and it occurred to me that a lot of those CNN televisions in airports are disappearing. Not that I’m upset abiut it.

Yeah it would have to be a big number.

Of course I’d pay quite a bit for 5 minutes alone in a room with the weasel chrissy wallace.

Not so much the ringleaders, but the followers, when pressed on the basis for their position du jour, are almost gnostic in their reply that their basis is from some secret wellspring of knowledge I’m not privy to (aka, they’re talking out of their a**).

She has a YouTube channel now and is busily trying to remake herself as likeable and charming.

“Trump should be able to buy the CNN channel franchise at a bargain price right now !”

And have a show that brings each of them on air and says, “You’re fired!” People would pay to watch that.
