Former Rep. Steve Israel (D-N.Y.) predicted on Monday that just a slight uptick in President Biden’s approval numbers could spare Democrats a thrashing in the Senate in this year’s midterm elections.
But whether Democrats can retain their paper-thin Senate majority may come down to a few factors, Israel said, warning that if Biden’s approval rating stays where it is now and the party’s voter base heads into Election Day unmotivated, it could cost Democrats at the polls.

It more likely means they have no idea what their Senators stand for - just that they have an (R) after their names so they must be better than the other guys.
Murkowski is reportedly in serious trouble this time.

Yes, amnesty came up for votes so often when the GOP took control of the Senate in January 2015, didn't it? You'd hardly know things had changed. The GOP rushed to get Scalia's Senate seat filled with the Obama appointee just as the Democrats would have, used the nuclear option to get Trump's SCOTUS appointees through just as the Democrats would have, confirmed record numbers of Trump's judicial appointments just as the Democrats would have, passed numerous CRA resolutions to reverse Obama regulations just as the Democrats would have, passed tax reform just as the Democrats would have, repealed the individual mandate, etc. Not a dimes worth of difference with them in charge vs. what the Democrats would have done!
Dream on you but hole.
If by “bump” he actually means “mail-in votes”, he could be right.
whistle past that graveyard, fella.....
Warnock is going down in Georgia to Herschel Walker.....
They’re floating amnesty again right now.
Not so confidant in that given ranked choice voting. She is clearly now campaigning for the Democrat vote with her support of Biden’s ultra-left SCOTUS pick.
Are you that clueless? The GOP is not presently in charge of the Senate. Schumer is the majority leader!
You are seriously not aware of that?
Specifically I should have said “net gain” not merely winning some seats.
Maybe the 300 Republicans could hold Press Conferences and talk about Hunter and say Joe has to answer for his brother and son in his foreign family business.
Just an idea.
It was REPUBLICAN House members that are floating it.
When we lose our country, you’ll be happy that it happened when the GOP wasn’t in the majority even though they provided the votes to make it happen.
Understood....I just think that regular America isn’t predisposed to believe Democrat lies from their prospective Senatorial candidates. They offer nothing but more of the same last two years and worse, frankly.
R’s are defending 20 seats to 14 for Dems, so they have to win 21 of 34 races to win the majority, plus you actually need about 55 to neuter (more than they already are) Romney, Murkowski, Collins, etc. Probably better odds of retaking the House, especially since House races are more difficult to cheat.
This former Dem congressman can always fantasize.
The problem Democrats have is over the last decade they built their house on the frivolous hill of identity and class warfare politics which might work in good times when the populace is feeling secure. But, that one trick pony can only take you so far. For any political strategy that has demonizing as its core has its limits when an insecure populace comes to realize demonizing is not a solution. It’s a nonresponsive tactic. Indeed, when the ground is moving while Dems are in control and the public is being battered by the reality of forces that directly affect their sense of security like inflation, crime, covid school closings, uncontrolled borders, energy prices, etc, suddenly the glitzy, media friendly social justice melodrama, virtue signaling, race baiting, xenophobia accusations and class warfare, which may have worked in the past to get the vote out, has few takers and left Democrats with little to fall back on. Even the media, which has taken the clue that there is currently no market for identity politics narratives and have put them on hold, will not be able to bail them out of this one. Enjoy the purge. Mr Israel.
It’s great too see that Rep. Steve Israel is still sniffing glue.
I hope that the voters show their love for the Rat Party come November 8th by kicking their butts out of the government and into the history’s trash can.
What is he smoking?
Word is Trump cut a deal with Dr. Oz that he would endorse him with Oz’s promise not to vote for Mitch.
The media have 6 months to create an “uptick” — all the time in the world.
