Why did Trump endorse Dr. Oz? One person's support may hold the answer

The two front runners in the Pennsylvania Republican primary running for a seat in the U.S. Senate are Dr. Mehmet Oz and David McCormick. Both men were lobbying hard for the endorsement of Donald Trump. On Saturday Trump made his decision known by announcing his endorsement of Dr. Oz. The endorsement has created a chasm in Trump World.

Why did he choose Dr. Oz, a television personality whose national career was launched by Oprah Winfrey? There are a couple of answers here. The simple one that Melania Trump is a big fan of Dr. Oz and encouraged her husband to endorse him. Don’t underestimate Melania’s influence here. Trump often refers to her as a top advisor, someone whose opinion he values.

“The first lady has let the president know that she likes Dr. Oz. And that matters,” said a top Republican familiar with the conversation inside Trump’s orbit at his Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach.

“But this isn’t just about what Melania wants,” said the source, who is neutral in the race and was not authorized to speak publicly. “There are a lot of Melanias out there. There are a lot of women, in whose living room and bedroom TVs Dr. Oz has been for a decade. They have a very personal relationship with Dr. Oz.”

Trump agrees that Oz’s television success with his daytime audience is a good indication that he can be successful in the race. Several days after Trump and Melania had dinner with Oz and his wife, Lisa, at Mar-a-Lago in March, Trump asked the crowd at an American Freedom Tour event if they liked Dr. Oz. “Does anybody like Dr. Oz?,” he asked. The crowd is reported to have cheered and applauded. Trump’s opinion is that since Oz has hosted his own show for years...

Trump needs to quit listening to his daughter and son in law.

Not too impressed with Dr. Oz. David McCormick, much less so. The only reason they are running #1 and #2 is that both are wealthy enough to fund their own campaigns.

Carla Sands is a much better conservative, but nowhere rich enough to buy the dueling advertising of Oz and McCormick, much less overcome the probable RAT candidate which will be either the Marxist heavy tool Fetterman or the Marxist light Nancy Pelosi's little Lamb.

So I will hold my nose and vote for Oz in November and maybe, if he is still running close to McCormick, in May as well.

This is speculation. That’s all. There are other essayist attributing this bone headed move to others’ influence. One is John fredericks

Whoever he is listening to, he is disappointing many. Maybe it’s for the greater good towards The constitution but…

We don’t need this right now.

Doesn’t “doc” Oz advocate for transgenderism?

There you go my friends. It’s the suburban housewife who Trump lost over his 4 years in office. In ‘16 he got 53% of the married women vote. These other ‘more pure’ conservatives might win but you go for the sure winner when there’s this much at stake. Toomey and Santorum went wobbly after one term so I don’t expect Oz to be with us 100%.

Why can’t enough of you acknowledge this?

Dr. 0z is just another smiling Hollywood phony. Until recently he didn’t even live in Pennsylvania. Trump damaged his brand by endorsing this guy.

Everything they say about Oz was said about Trump in 2016 by the traditional Republicans.

Re: Oprah

Friends in PENNSYLVANIA who are "undecided" in the Senate race there: @DrOz is AWESOME, better than those swamp guys. And for those who complain that he's FRIENDS WITH OPRAH, well, that's TRUMP too! And we LOVE TRUMP! There was a time when EVERYONE Loved OPRAH! No BIGGIE! pic.twitter.com/pcSKZpOn6q— Greg Kelly (@gregkellyusa) March 17, 2022

It’s not like this is his only bad endorsement.

Amnesty Senator Rubio is far worse as amnesty is antithetical to MAGA.

“The crowd is reported to have cheered and applauded.”

Rally crowds cheer and applaud at almost everything he says, so that’s not really a good indicator.

Too many. There are 21 listed on the primary ballot, two of whom would be described as conservatives (Carla Sands and Jeff Bartos), two front running RINOs (Dr. Oz and Dave McCormick) and 17 who would be lucky to break single digits of unknown quality.

Of those with an actual chance to win the primary and beat either of the two probable (of 11 total) Democrat candidates, Dr. Oz makes a far better case than McCormick.

My heart tells me to decide between Sands and Bartos, either of whom would be solid. My head tells me Dr. Oz.

“Trump needs to quit listening to his daughter and son in law.”

That’s 100% true. However, Melania is neither.

Actually, he’s right. Oz has the name and face ID that will make women on both sides vote for him.
