Even if you lose the presidency, it’s worth getting in the race. As Bernie proved it can lead to a few extra houses, and cars and other properties. The consolation prizes are almost always worth it.
Weiner ran for mayor of NYC because he had several million dollars he couldn’t touch unless it was for political purposes. As a candidate he could buy a building and a car for his campaign and later own the building or car.
