A Chinese professor who works in the U.S. called on China to invade Taiwan with “our overwhelming troops and firepower” last week during a speech in Beijing.
Professor Yi Li spoke to students at the Chaoyang District Party School in Beijing last Friday in which he praised the Russian military strategy in the ongoing invasion of Ukraine and suggested it serves as a model for how China can invade and “reunify” with Taiwan, according to his remarks shared on China’s WeChat social media platform.
“We need to reunify with Taiwan province as soon as possible with our overwhelming troops and firepower,” Yi said in his speech.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Yi is a full professor at Renmin University in China, but has also been living in the U.S. and working with universities in the U.S. He authored a book with University Press of America in 2005 and received his Ph.D. in Sociology at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Yi has also worked on the faculty of DePaul University in Chicago. His LinkedIn profile states he relocated to the greater New York metropolitan area, where he is looking for work in education and research.
Xi is only waiting for Biden to stumble further.
China should look to the ‘success’ Russia is having in Ukraine. Taiwan won’t be a pushover like China thinks it will be.
How long before he rants that China attack the United States?
Yank his passport, visa, green card or whatever permit he has to enter the US.
He won’t have to wait very long.
Deport the ChiCom.
It’s never going to happen. Destroy their Navy in transit and they could never land
Taiwan also has nucellar weapons.
They should tell China you move to invade us; we will take out Three Gourges Dam before your eyes...Peking will be next
How are you going to get hundreds of thousands of troops across the 100 mile strait? They’d have to fly them in after air superiority is achieved. Doable? Amphibious attack: drones would take them out. Chico’s won’t run out of personnel to sacrifice.
And now we have Professors of Sociology directing military campaigns. It sounded like a great idea in the faculty lounge...
That’s the biggest problem with staging a large invasion: safe and fast transportation to the target. The strait will get a new reef if they try.
I keep telling people that Taiwan being invaded is not plausible. The country has too many cheap ways of taking out navel projection of force. the Chines would lose all of its navy. they could blockade the island but that is loaded with problems for the chine’s navy.
Examine what happened to the British when they decided to retake the Falkland Islands in the 1980s. thy won but it was extremely costly because of cheap munitions fired from individuals on non-military ships in the last 30 years the issue with cheap hand held munitions taking out ships has gotten worse
China has some beautiful modern cities - be a shame to reduce them to rubble over Xi’s wishful thinking of taking over Taiwan.
It’s only a matter of time before China attempts this.
“no plan survives first contact with the enemy”
There are just too many unknowns for those of us on the “outside”.
Presumably China has spies and agents of various kinds already in place on Taiwan to sabotage defensive operations—we have no way to know the scale....
China can build another Navy if they have to....
Imho it is now or never—the question is whether China is willing to allow an independent Taiwan for another century or beyond.
China knows that 3-to-6 of its major dams will go in the first 24 hrs...
Along with 10-15 million drownees and a large chunk of its industrial backbone...

Which strategy seems to be: to take very high losses in troops and equipment in the opening days, and then withdraw from the prime target, after having targeted ordinary citizens - men, women, and children with bombs, shells, murdered, tortured and raped. Is that an actual “strategy” - even makes Attila the Hun look good.
If they take losses like the Russians, the CCP will fall from the pressure of the parents who no longer have any income and face homelessness and starvation. Which is why they never will.

only from a distance - the construction is horrible. And will soon be rubble on the own as they fall apart or are demoed.
China dares not.
To invade, there is a large body of water to be traversed. No Chinese troops would ever make the landing
Think Quad + several other navies standing in the way
