However, Macron responded to the story by asserting that the 35-year-old farmer had no right to defend himself or his daughter in such a manner.

That attitude is why the U.S., Canada, England and Australia had to take France back from the Germans twice in the 1900s. Then we gave it back to the French! We won it fair and square; should'a split it up and kept it!

A U.S. Navy Admiral was attending a naval conference that included Admirals from the U.S., English, Canadian, Australian and French Navies.
