Shocker: Far-Right Men Accused in Michigan Guv Kidnap Plot Duck Conviction

In a shocking twist, a gaggle of white men accused of conspiring to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in the weeks before the 2020 presidential election dodged convictions on Friday.

After five days of deliberations, a Michigan jury acquitted Daniel Harris and Brandon Caserta of several charges, including conspiracy, for what prosecutors said was a depraved scheme born out of anti-government anger at the Democratic leader’s COVID-19 restrictions. The jury, however, could not come to a consensus on the other two defendants and alleged ring leaders of the plot—Adam Fox and Barry Croft—and thus their cases may end in a mistrial.

he partial verdict came after five days of deliberation, during which jurors could not agree on all charges against the group. It marked perhaps the worst blow against federal prosecutors seeking to crack down on right-wing extremists in the aftermath of a uniquely violent and unhinged election season. And came after the case was marred by misconduct allegations against some of the FBI agents involved, as well as a “double agent” informant the feds effectively disavowed.

Prosecutors said the defendants, who include militia members and self-described patriots, spent months hatching the violent plan after Whitmer locked down the state in an effort to mitigate spread of the deadly virus. The plot allegedly included plans to kidnap the governor, detonate a bridge to prevent cops from rescuing her, and possibly leave her stranded on a boat in the middle of Lake Michigan.

“In America, there’s a lot of things you can do. You can criticize the government publicly, absolutely,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Nils Kessler said during closing arguments on Friday. “If you don’t like the government’s policies, you can protest them. If you don’t like elected leaders, you can vote them out at the ballot box.

This is really quite astonishing. Another crack in the fascist wall. The FBI fabricated entrapment plot upset by a jury. What good news will be next? Hillary and Nasty Nancy sharing a ventilator?...to no avail.

Keep them doogies rollin’...

They didn’t ‘dodge’ anything, they were acquitted.

The Daily Beast is upset that ‘a gaggle of white guys’ didn’t get railroaded into jail.

Don’t you love the choice of words by the Daily Boast: they “dodged conviction.” How about: “they were found not guilty”?

A “gaggle”? How very condescending.
That sounds like something AOC would say, then remark she “wasn’t judging!”

They pulled the same BS with January 6th as they tried to do the Whitmer case. They even moved the same FBI head from Whitmer case to Jan. 6th investigations. I forget the FBI guy’s name, but the same guy was-is in charge of both.

Dodged? Is that the knew synonym for when a jury doesn’t find you guilty?

Jury nullification or recognition of entrapment? We’ll never really know.

I’m pretty sure the jury was told by Da Judge that nullification would NOT be tolerated. If any juror admits nullification, the whole group could be jailed for contempt of court until the contempt is rectified, which it cannot ever be...

The hung jury defendants will be tried again. Government will really, really bear down hard.

The only “gaggle” involved in this scene was the FBI agents and their informers.
