'Paranoid' WarnerMedia staff are preparing for another round of layoffs ahead of the completion of its merger with media conglomerate Discovery, sources have revealed, after a firing spree this week saw nine top execs nixed from the company.
The nine departures saw the exit of CEO Jason Kilar, Warner Bros. chief Ann Sarnoff, and HBO Max general manager Andy Forssell.
Other staffers set to leave the company Friday include WarnerMedia CRO Tony Goncalves, CTO Richard Tom, CFO Jennifer Biry, Executive Vice President Jim Cummings, CIO Christy Haubegger and WarnerMedia general counsel Jim Meza.
All were top members of Kilar's management team.
'I've never seen such paranoia. It's bad, it's crazy,' a source from within the company - which owns HBO, CNN, and Warner Bros - told The Wrap Thursday. 'These people are palpably nervous.'

Time to SLICE & DICE!
Potato Head could be gone as soon as Monday!
It’s a woke company and as such cannot leave the universe soon enough.
Good riddance to smelly, putrid garbage.
For the C suite, this is how corporate mergers work out. I’m sure none of them were surprised.
I remember when there were just CEOs. What’s with all the other Cs?
What hyperbole. People get laid off or fired all the time but with 99% less drama. I’ve been laid off or fired several times. Each time I landed in a better place with more money. It’s just part of life. Not a massacre or a bloodletting...holy smoke what a bunch of drama queens. Come on take it like a...*uhm*...whatever you identify as.
The CNN and HBO purges begins on Monday!
They should all be thrilled now that they have extra free time to go watch the little boys play in the park.
I’ve worked for two large companies that both went through mergers of equals . It was horrible in both cases. The employees of both company worry day by day what will become of their job. There was at least one suicide.
If you find yourself in a similar situation, leave.
“But, but, I am woke to the max and curse the orange man bad every day. We need to be more woke!”
LOL!
And that is the reason WarnerMedia folks are being fired. Because they are that stupid. WarnerMedia was SOLD because it was failing. Discovery BOUGHT them, because Discovery is succeeded and is expanding.
Failing companies are failing because 1) bad management. Bad management must be fired for the new company to succeed where the old management failed. Also, bad management infects down ranks and those failed staff must go. Hopefully, the few people at Warner that were not losers will be kept. But isn’t that a bit like Abraham asking God to spare Sodom and Gomorrah if there can be found 10 good ones?
This isn’t a merger of equals. Discover is cheap and swallowed the whale with Warners and is taking on a massive amount of debt that will need to be paid off. Warners is going to get gutted.
vice president wasn’t good enough
With their investments, severance packages, and connections, none of them will be living out of a shopping cart anytime soon.
You got fired and wound up with better pay and bennies? Damn, your good. Your best bet is to just continue to piss off your bosses, get fired, get that better job and then more money, get fired again, then repeat and repeat and repeat.
