Geneva (ICRC) - An International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) team that had been on its way to Mariupol on Friday to facilitate the safe passage of civilians had to return to Zaporizhzhia after arrangements and conditions made it impossible to proceed.
The ICRC team, which consists of three vehicles and nine personnel, did not reach Mariupol or facilitate the safe passage of civilians today. They will try again on Saturday to facilitate the safe passage of civilians from Mariupol.
For the operation to succeed, it is critical that the parties respect the agreements and provide the necessary conditions and security guarantees.
If and when the safe passage operation does happen, the ICRC's role as a neutral intermediary would be to accompany the convoy out from Mariupol to another city in Ukraine.
Our presence will put a humanitarian marker on this planned movement of people, giving the convoy additional protection and reminding all sides of the civilian, humanitarian nature of the operation. The parties to the conflict would also need to fulfil the agreements reached to allow for this operation to happen.
Who, What, When, Where, Why and How?
Would it be too much to ask of a reported to find out WHO is stopping them and why? Is it Azov nazi SS refusing to allow them in because they will speak to citizens of that area in terror of them?
Is it Russians who will not allow any corridor to open through their lines surrounding Maripol?
Did the train tickets cost too much?
All we know is that “they can’t get there”.
From the article it sounds like the Red Cross wants to open a corridor to the west through Russian lines. It’s doubtful the Russians would want that because it would become an Azov escape/supply route.
The Russians have repeatedly been giving access to a corridor leading out into Russia, and then letting people proceed to their destination.
The Ukes want to relieve the siege of the Azov positions, but I think the Russians want to capture and kill all of that surrounded SS force.

Dear International Committee of the Red Cross we just received your press release on your so called “efforts” to facilitate the safe passage of civilians out of #mariupol.
Let me break it down for you why it’s a total BS

Reality:
✅ Humanitarian convoy consisting of some 40 busses left Mariupol yesterday (so not really sure, why you wanted to go to Mariupol today)
✅ As of 6 p.m. on April 1st, the buses with people were stuck at the last russian checkpoint - some 50 km south of Zaporizhya; russians were not letting them through
✅ At the same time ICRC vehicles were seen inside peaceful Zaporizhya driving around
✅ Local volunteers ACTUALLY facilitating the safe passage of civilians from Mariupol and having their reps INSIDE these busses reported that at no point ICRC was present anywhere NEAR the humanitarian convoy

Reality:
✅ We drove to the last Ukrainian checkpoint on the route that evacuees were supposed to take on their way to Zaporizhya and did not evidence any fighting, shelling or other hostilities
✅ We also did not evidence any ICRC presence trying to “facilitate” the safe passage of civilians from Mariupol, which at that point were some 15 km away

✅ let me remind you again: the convoy has left Mariupol already; if your “efforts” were genuine, you’d be in touch with volunteers on the ground and you’d have known where the convoy is currently located

✅ This is a war, not a conflict
✅ Even the UN calls this a russian Offensive in Ukraine

It’s been a problem because of the obvious reasons often over looked - there are targeted areas and you don’t want people on the streets during these times - further Mariupol has been a bastion of fierce fire fighting from the get go. It’s been a base for Azrov and other dangerous and violent sadistic members for years. ..and they will and do use human shields.
We also know many buildings were blown up by AZOV and not bombed by Russia....That has been reported from people who escaped.

503 battalion of Ukraine Marines surrendered in Mariupol today, in organized fashion, 267 survivors in total. Their commander was KIA.
This is not Azov, but this is supposed to be elite troops with motto “never surrender”.

Russian forces had “purposely and cynically destroyed the Drama Theater in the heart of Mariupol.”
The theater served as an anti-aircraft shelter for more than 1,000 people and has resisted the attack. Additionally, the word “Children” was mentioned outside the theater to protect the space and integrity of the Ukrainians. However, the attack happened anyway.

Frankly I don’t have an interest in peoples personal interest stories - they all have them.. So it’s enough for me to recognize suffering, death and violence happens in every war and this one is without exception. .....
However certain wars tend to have more fighters i fighting than the parties involved such as foreign fighters internationally Zelensky invited to his conflict. ...and they have no regard for humans nor accountability to anyone...they will always leave a war zone for their home country or the next war they want a paycheck from.
Further if you are in a hot war zone the chances are you’re going to get shot...even if undercover. Thus why close to 5 million have left the country.
