LONDON (AP) — The prevalence of COVID-19 in the U.K. has reached record levels, with about 1 in 13 people estimated to be infected with the virus in the past week, according to the latest figures from Britain’s official statistics agency.
Some 4.9 million people were estimated to have the coronavirus in the week ending March 26, up from 4.3 million recorded in the previous week, the Office for National Statistics said Friday. The latest surge is driven by the more transmissible omicron variant BA.2, which is the dominant variant across the U.K.

It really is the cold now. People do die of the cold. They do go to the hospital with a cold. But its very rare and there are often comorbidities that cause the issue. A friend of mine, 22 years old female died ten years ago. She had asthma, she got the cold, she went to sleep and never woke. It happens every year. It always has. COVID will kill people. But very few and those will be sick for other reasons.
England should ignore COVID. It will go away in two weeks.

As of 2 April 2022, "official" UK Covid deaths are 166,168.

Yes, and people I know there are clamoring for their 4th Jab. It is disturbing to me that people I know there, suffering with newly diagnosed cancers are very upset they won’t be given a 4th vax until midway through their chemo.
They are also upset at the shortage of lateral flow tests.

There was a series of experiments run years ago, in which at the same time food was presented to dogs, a bell rang, and the dogs then salivated, in response to the food. This was repeated over and over, then as the test of the experiment, the bell rang, and the dogs salivated in anticipation of getting fed, but no food was presented. It took some time for the dogs to STOP salivating when the bell was rung, and not followed by the presentation of food.
