Florida’s Gov. Ron DeSantis has a superpower: whatever he supports or implements in Florida makes Democrats come out of the woodwork 100% opposed to it. This reaction led to the beclowning of Democrat governors during the pandemic, record levels of net immigration to Florida, and DeSantis’s state driving Biden’s economic recovery.
Democrats are so terrified of DeSantis’s national appeal within the Republican Party that even the Biden administration comes out in direct opposition to whatever Florida is doing.
Luckily, DeSantis picks issues on which 80% of Americans agree with him. The latest was the Parental Rights in Education bill he signed earlier this week. It prohibits schools from providing instruction in sex education, gender ideology, and sexual preference in kindergarten through third grade. It also requires any instruction in these subjects to remain age-appropriate.
Polls show more than 2/3 of Americans agree with what is actually in the legislation, and even a majority of Democrat primary voters in Florida support it.
With those poll numbers, one might think Democrats would publicly oppose the radical transgender ideology that drove the legislation and allowed the person formerly known as Will Thomas to win the Women’s 500 Freestyle at the NCAA finals. Instead, the Biden administration decided to come out in support of medically transitioning kids.

The Human Services’ Office of Population Affairs (OPA) document classifies puberty blockers, hormone therapy, and gender-affirming surgeries for children as “gender-affirming care.”
It never mentions that the effects of these medications can be irreversible or that they might pose other health risks. None has been subjected to randomized controlled trials or longitudinal studies, or approved by the FDA for use in transitioning children.
The OPA also provides no data or information on the increasing number of people choosing to detransition as young adults.

Although I agree wholeheartedly with what DeSantis and the Legislature did on this issue, I still would have preferred they went the other direction and MANDATED this vile, disgusting instruction for ALL PRIVATE SCHOOLS in the State. FORCE THEM TO ACCEPT IT AND LIVE WITH IT, We would be having an entirely different conversation if they did.

politically, this is huge. Even big numbers of Democrats support this. In spite of the squealing activists who decry this law as anti gay and all that, there is a silent majority which supports this.
We should turn the discussion around, and ask these liberals, as they oppose this law, that means they are in favor of discussing all this LGBT stuff in school. We should ask them to tell us why they are in favor of such issues with young children in school.

I saw Lynyrd Skynyrd 5 times. The last time was on a Saturday night in Lakeland, FL. The next night, after a concert in South Carolina was the plane crash that killed Ronnie Van Zant, the lead singer and older brother of Johnny and Donnie who did this song.
Slightly off topic, today I spent a lot more time than usual on facebook. I have 2 accounts - a Good Twin for family and friends and a Bad Twin for my extremist political views. My Bad Twin account was spammed with all kinds of pedophilia, degenerate sex, trans crap, pride, and many many foreign language things. I mean dozens and dozens and dozens all day long.
Did anyone else experience this or am I just lucky?

Donnie does a good job with the new band. His vocals are very close to Ronnie’s. I have not seen them live though.
Why would anyone be surprised that the party that sponsored and condones the slaughter of 60 million babies would continue their abuse of all the other children in the US. That’s why I call them the Demoncrats ... soldiers in Satan’s Army.
As far as I’m concerned, Lynyrd Skynrd died when the plane went down. I don’t begrudge the survivors making a living, at all.
I don’t “do” Facebook so I wouldn’t know.
