The Ministry of National Defense has set up a working group to study the tactics of the war in Ukraine, including how Ukraine has been able to hold out against Russia, and has been discussing its analysis with the US, Minister of National Defense Chiu Kuo-cheng (邱國正) said yesterday.
Taiwan has raised its alert level since the Russian invasion, wary of Beijing possibly making a similar move on Taiwan, although it has reported no signs that this is about to happen.
The potential impact of the Ukraine war on China’s military thinking, and how China could attack Taiwan, has been widely debated in official circles in Taipei.

When China challenges the State Dept on this, they can answer, “April Fools”
Taiwan has never declared independence from China. If China sends a mass flotilla of internal migrants, they’ll have nothing to say. They’re very willing to spill American blood but not so willing to spill their own.

There are some updated conversations regarding the sampan civilian navy internal migration approach.

The chinese will send a sampan navy with 10million “internal migration” civilians armed with CNN uplinks, cameras, and bullhorns. When they get mowed down by our side, the resulting negative PR will be amplified by the chinese knocking out 2 of our aircraft carriers in the blockade with their hypersonic ICBM thermally guided antiship missiles.
America will luze stomach for the fight over what it already calls an internal province of China. Taiwan has never declared independence.
About a third of civilians in Taiwan are ethnic Chinese and maybe only half of them have loyalties and fifth column tendencies towards communist China. They have hundreds of thousands of cargo ships they can fill with civilians armed with cameras, CNN uplinks, and bullhorns.
The resultant slaughter will be live on CNN and the PR backlash will be enough to let China walk right back into their own internal (never did declare independence) province. If we blockade them, they’ll lob thermal-capable antiship ICBM missiles at our aircraft carriers and CNN will record them sinking to the bottom of the sea with the resultant nuclear plume.
America will luze stomach for the fight after luzing a couple $Trillion in carriers and tens of thousands of men in one afternoon, all seen on CNN, with our recourse being... to slaughter civilians. China has all the cards, they just have to lay them down on the table at this point.
And when it’s all over but the shouting, the RINOs and GOPes and democraps will be handwringing, hoping for a quick way to order chinese chips & electronics from Amazon. The chinese want the continued business of globalists so it’ll all be “can’t we just get along” and “water under the bridge” as soon as China is in charge and chips are shipping.

Waste of effort.
China must be defeated at sea and by the early strike destruction of Sanghai. Chinese troops and armor must never permitted to land. Assault on the mainland and total and massive destruction is the best defense
Don’t have to invade, just hold live fire naval drills around Taiwan. Insurance companies will pull insurance for cargo ships.
Taiwan has nothing to worry about—just raise the rainbow flags and the Chinese will retreat in terror.
;-)
They also need an Iron Dome or something like it because there will be a constant barrage of missiles coming from the mainland. They need anti aircraft, anti ship, anti submarine and anti missile weaponry. If the Chinese are unable to take the island with conventional forces they will completely destroy it like Mariupol - as punishment -and Taiwan should be prepared for it.
“Taiwan has never declared independence from China.”
Because they do not view themselves as an independent country. They view themselves as the legitimate government of both Taiwan and mainland China.
It’s good and proper to study what Ukraine is doing, but an invasion fight between China and Taiwan is an entirely different fight.
Russia had a small amphibious component to a largely land based operation. Russia needed to establish absolute control of Ukranian air space and rapid control of major metropolitan areas to succeed. Instead they kind of control the airspace, have not established control of any real metropolitan area, and are getting out maneuvered by a highly motivated defense.
China will be primarily an amphibious operation. Totally different fight. Like Russia, China has the on paper ability to take absolute control of the air over Tiwan in pretty short order. I have to believe that Tiwan has a robust air defense system in place that will be difficult to overcome. I also guess that Tiwan has a very robust anti-ship defense system in place. Getting ground troops on the island will be a bloody affair. Will Tiwan’s defenses be able to damage or destroy enough ships and air craft to stop the invasion? China may not care about how many of its military are killed, they have a vast reserve to plug in new bodies to fight, but how many ships and aircraft can they afford to lose?
They should be building 100’s of 1000’s of IEDs , remotely triggered by a vast fleet of drone. Not depending on personel on the ground alone.
They should be working on ways to totally hack, disrupt and disable ChiCom comms. Including air-to-air. Leave any invaders scrambling for whatever they can come up with , without any comms
Good idea, start looking around for your better looking women who can speak english for when the reporters arrive.
So when mainland China shows up to migrate millions of internal citizens from one province to another internal province, they will have nothing legit to say about it.
Population of Taiwan: 24 million
Population of China: 1400 million
Better have some nukes to even up the score, IMHO.
But how many forces can China move over water and land? Taiwan has the advantage of one giant moat.
A blockade of Taiwan will bring world pressure on China.
Evil CCP rats could make Taiwan surrender within 10 days by launching 25 precision guided missiles into Taiwan’s 25 key electrical substations. The 3-4 substations that feed into the TSMC fab. Use the rest to plunge Taipei into darkness, other Taiwan major cities. Gasoline cannot be pumped. Food in refrigerators rots. Lights are out.
