Remember when Bill Clinton rolled out ‘the worst economy in 50 years’ when we had a minor recession for a year that just happened to coincide with the election? That was a joke. THIS is what the worst economy in 50 years looks like. Soon to be the worst economy in 90 years the way we are going.

Here’s just a brief example of my purchase history of groceries at Wal Mart.com. Here are the July 2021 prices and the prices I paid two days ago:
Chip dip - $1.00 to $1.62
Tortilla chips - $1.09 to $1.74
Gallon milk - $2.60 to $3.24
50 lb. dog food - $20.98 to $23.49
Progresso soup - $1.42 to $1.98
Limes - $.48 to $.68
Head of lettuce - $1.19 to $1.78
A few items like bananas and tomatoes didn’t increase at all, but mostly everything increased by double-digit percentages.

You're right.

Bush 1 & 2 were both punching bags for the media.

That's the best part about Trump.

He's the Phalanx CIWS of politics!

And people believed that “Worst economy in 50 years” crap when it had clearly been far worse a mere 12 years earlier in the dying days of the Carter administration.

6.4% Bwahaha. More like 26.4%!

Look at the increases in energy, housing, autos, etc. Even the rise in food is understated the way the guv measures it—and that is downstream from energy (and fertilizer) costs.

Duh on steroids.

Carter should be elated that he will be forgotten in that respect before he passes.

US retail gas is up from 2.94 to 4.33 over the past 12 months:

https://ycharts.com/indicators/us_gas_price

That is a 47% increase.

Similar ratios follow through for petroleum impacts on transportation, distribution, farming, plastics manufacture, etc.

A 16oz package of Oscar Mayer Bologna at my local supermarket the other day:

$5.79. Yes, FIVE DOLLARS AND SEVENTY-NINE CENTS.

These used to be about two bucks, just a year ago.

Florida: jar of hellmans Mayo is now $7.99, up from yesterday’s price of $6.49

Velveeta mac and cheese big box today is $4.99, 12 pack of Coca-Cola is $7.49

These prices are unsustainable

I went to Aldi’s yesterday and noticed that many of the prices were roughly 20% higher than a month ago.

Beef and pork prices did come down some. Beef sirloin steak was $7.99, down from $9.99.

Bagged salad was up from $0.99 to $1.39. Saltine crackers were up from $0.79 to $0.99. Bagged small avocados were up from $2.79 to $3.89.

My typical grocery trip used to average around $60-$80. Yesterday it was $105.

President Brandon will just blame that on Big Baloney.

Yes, but my experience is that they seldom go down once they're that high.
