Germany Suffering ‘In the Most Brutal Way’ Over Russian Gas Addiction – Minister
Breitbart ^ | 30 Mar 2022 | PETER CADDLE

Germany’s addiction to Russian gas has come to backfire on the European state, with one minister saying that the country is now suffering ‘in the most brutal way’ thanks to the policymaking of previous administrations.

Annalena Baerbock, a senior member of Germany’s Green party who is now serving as the country’s Federal Foreign Minister, has said that her nation is now suffering “in the most brutal way” as a result of its addiction to Russian gas.

Baerbock’s comments come as German authorities prepare for Russia to cease its supply of gas to the country, after the G7 nation outright refused to pay for its Russian gas fix in rubles.

According to a report by POLITICO, Baerbock took aim at the decisions of previous political administrations, saying that it had been obvious for a long time that relying on Russian fuel was not a good idea.

“Actually, we as Europeans have known since 2014 at the latest… that we must become completely independent of Russian fossil fuel imports, and a strategy was put in place to diversify our energy imports,” the Foreign Minister is reported as saying.

“However, we did not tackle this, and this is now taking its revenge in the most brutal way,” she continued.

Trump warned you. Funny, you say it was obvious. Y’all sure didn’t seem to think so 4 years ago.

Reagan and more recently Trump tried to warn them. Two great leaders of two different eras tried to warn them. Let’em get cold in the dark. Stupid should hurt.

Yes, Germany has had this ridiculous commitment to Gaia worship for a long time.....call it a reversion to worshipping the pre christian forest gods they used to worship.

So they stupidly shut down coal, shut down nuclear power plants, failed to build LNG terminals or secure contracts with other suppliers and went all in on making themselves almost completely dependent on Russia - thinking themselves oh so smart the whole time.

and exactly as predicted and as they were warned against by practically every American administration since the 1960s, it has now come back to bite them in the ass.

Germany has to choose between Gaia worship on the one hand and national energy security and a functioning economy on the other. I’m not at all sure which they will choose - they are that committed to sacrificing to Gaia.

“Russia was a bomb waiting to go off since, oh, 1914.”

Yet is was Europe’s Princes-Dukes-Grand High Hockey Pucks that made things go BOOM in 1914. Was the first time in that century Russia got pulled into trying to stop the Euros from setting themselves & everyone else afire.

But, as you noted, Russia’s been around for a very long time and it’s immense energy resources are not going anywhere. The countries of the world understand this and realize the best course was to make Russia a codependent/partner in the world going forward.

I was in Berlin, in the 80s, in the USAF, though I was stationed in Wiesbaden. First, we went through checkpoint Alpha, and checkpoint Bravo. Then finally, checkpoint Charlie. It was a rather unique feeling, as I read the sign, that said, “you are leaving the American sector.” That’s all it said. I felt like I was in the belly of the beast, in East Berlin. Those East Germans knew who we were, since we were required to wear our USAF uniforms in East Berlin.
A whole bunch of us went into East Berlin, including, a gorgeous black female USAF Ssgt. It was comical, watching those East Berlin men staring at her. 😂

Part of the problem, kept on the down-low, was that German politicians were being bribed, even then.”

German politicians needn’t worry. Germany can fall back on their strategic reserves of gas.

They DO have one, don’t they?

It doesn’t bother me. Who’s laughing now?

Trump was trying to help them. He was giving them good advice. If they wanted to act like petulant children and not follow that advice...and now find themselves in a world of hurt because of it, that’s their problem.

The Russian gas they need is for sale, all they have to do is pay the piper. A gram of gold gets them 5000 rubles at the Russian central bank. An ounce gets them about 142,000 rubles.

No real problem for Germany to come up with enough physical gold, probably, but it would be death to the petrodollar because the demand for rubles will drive gold up and drive the petrodollar (deeper) into the dirt. That’s what this is about. It had to happen eventually but the changeling walked us into it.

It will interesting to see if the West can overcome the corruption, and tragic if not.

Started way before Trump. President Bush43 told them it is not wise to build the first Nord Stream.

Something tricky about the Germans. I believe they actually want to do good, but their elite drives it into foolishness like “you do good if you project the gay rainbow flag on the Iranian embassy”.

They can do good now by turning the thermostat down by 3.6F and wearing a sweater. 50 bcm gas (a third of what they buy from Russia) would be saved a year this way. I for one hope that they’ll do it and support it even if it means it must turn into a virtue signaling competition with pretty girl posting their sweater pictures to Instagram.

Sure, tell that to the loyal Putin troops and Russians who are being rationed of gas right now, freezing feet in the mud.

Maybe someone should ping Biden the same about Venezuela and Iranian oil…. But the Citgo campaign contributions cannot be ignored by money grubbing democrats. Citgo is the only “big oil” that is never targeted… and gazprom too before this

I made a mistake in my math. For that yield they need to turn the thermostat down by 7.2F, but that calculation is if only Germany does it.

The requirement gets smaller when other countries do it too.
