When 2 people have a difference in opinion on probabilities and are willing to bet on it, places like www.PredictIt.org hopefully have contracts you can trade on it...

https://www.predictit.org/markets/search?query=will%20smith

Unfortunately, there appears to be no contract on this. Otherwise I think I’d happily bet against ya.

It’s celebrity privilege. They’re given a pass on everything. They molest, rape, and even kill people, and Hollywood looks the other way.

Smith hit Chris, and security didn’t tell him to leave. Smith was “asked” to leave. He refused, and they let him enjoy the rest of the show and receive his award and all the glory.

Yes, kind of. The comedians have always made fun of the movies and stars during the telecast - but not brutal - kind of gentle, but people can be offended over most anything anymore. I do understand that stars live with a certain amount of indignity. They are always being criticized about something, but that just goes with the territory.

For example, Amy Schumer said at the beginning of the Oscars on Sunday, that she has watched Power of the Dog three times but has only made it half way through. That got a fairly big laugh because it is a very boring movie - perhaps the most boring movie I have ever seen. So the humor is similar to that normally.

It was a live show. What if Will Smith had resisted? They did the right thing by not escalating it and perhaps making it much worse. They can kick him out of the Academy and take away his Oscar if they want to - not certain that they will or they could put a lifetime ban on him not being invited to the Oscars - which doesn't sound terrible, but in his circles, it could be.

More important is whether his drawing power to the big screen is affected. My guess is probably not.

He’s smug and arrogant until he is behind closed doors. Then it’s his GI Jane wife who wears the pants. A man who allows his wife to humiliate him with other men (or women) isn’t too convincing as the tough guy with others.

All the hosts have made fun of specific people and Hollywood in general. Johnny Carson, Steve Martin, Whoopi, Billy Crystal, - all of them. Being the butt of an awards show joke is a feature of belonging to the Hollyweirdo crowd.

Didn’t you give it a 90% chance it was real? I think we’d be betting on the same side.

This just shows the disrespect for all the work the principles did in the entire industry.any other competition aka. professional sports or Olympics would have removed the entire table.Overshadowed everyone else. Reminds me of a Pelosi stunt.

Are you former military.... in Korea we’d say the same about your hostess. Of course I now know that many of those gals turned into decent wives and were literally sold into the business.

Smells like cow dung to me too. No way they’d forfeit the cheap entertainment value of Smith’s dramatic acceptance speech on the heels of his Sock-Rock-in-the-Jawk moment with all his double standard cohorts turning a blind eye and clapping like same seals they are that overlooked Harvey W because of his status. The commercial break footage didn’t appear to have any academy reps ask him to leave either. Most likely saying it now to save face.

The Academy also said it has initiated disciplinary proceedings against Smith for violating its code of conduct

Smith didn't just violate the code of ethics, he went on stage and tore it up like Pelosi tearing the SOTU, before millions of people. So let's hope the punishment fits the crime. Disallowing his appearance next year is not enough.

Really just a sad microcosm of the general population, watered down further with each generation. Imagine the current crop being asked to storm Normandy.

I will credit Rock with imploring black men to adhere to cops and for more recently (along with Chappelle) calling out the black privilege in the justice system. I wonder if that may have precipitated the attack or at least some acceptance of it.

9/11 and Gov officials operating over the last couple years elevates Smith’s assertion from ‘BS crazy’ to ‘somewhat plausible.’

It’s always been a degree of ribbing. Difference nowaday is it used to be funny and people used to be goid sports about it.
