Beginning this season, all 32 clubs must employ a female or a member of an ethnic or racial minority to serve as an offensive assistant coach.

They're been implementing this kind of mandated discrimination throughout the business world for a while.
Somehow the article neglected to mention that this means 32 teams must fire their existing assisting coaches because they are the wrong sex or race

I really object to women being in positions of authority
having never played the game in a men’s league.
You can know an awful lot, and it be worthless if you never
played the game.
It’s the same argument I have for women doing play by play
or interviews on the field.
Leave it to the men who have been in the sport.
They have first hand experience of what goes on in the
mind of a person actually running the plays.
The women do not. It’s embarrassing at times how idiotic
their questions and observations are.

I suspect it’s just gonna be an “honorary” position.
IIRC there is no limit to the number of coaches a team can have.
That salary will just be baked into future ticket sales.

Exactly.
If you think about it, it brings a whole new dynamic to the
locker room also.
It’s just not a workable idea for the male team members.
Men can walk in there and address an issue with no problem.
