No teacher should disclose his or her personal life.
When I taught a student claimed impropriety on my part and the ombudsman questioned my class. She said she was unable to determine anything about me, no political affiliation, no sexual orientation, no religious affiliation. She said when she questioned my students if I ever discussed sex in class, everyone said, “ Mr S? NO,!” And then they laughed. I don’t know if I feel good about that.
My point being, I only discussed things with regard to the class. I took no position other than one with regard to good writing. Though we discussed a wide range of topics, no one was able to determine my position on anything. I felt good about that.
My first and second grade teacher was Mrs. Fisher. She never once mentioned anything about her home life to us. She taught us to read, write[print, we learned to write cursive in the third grade under Mrs. Boone] add, subtract, and count. We also learned to color draw, finger paint, and paste[glue]. We did not have a kindergarten. But again, neither her or Mrs. Boone said anything about her home life. Mrs. Boone would grab you by the shoulders and shake you until your teeth rattled when you misbehaved.
Get your kids out of that class quicly — I mean today!
You can teach them everything a kindergartner needs to know at home.
I do not remember ANY of my public school teachers, from kindergarten through grade 12, ever discussing ANY of their personal life with us. Not their spouses, not their kids, not their quest to find love, none of that. I don’t even think they talked about their pets!
Why is it so hard for some people NOT to talk about that? There’s plenty of other things to discuss in school.
It’s getting to the point where parents really need to start taking matters into their own hands.

I had a number of teachers in my life...

No teacher should be talking about his or her sex life with young children. Ever. It doesn’t matter if they are straight or a perverted whackjob. The topic is simply inappropriate until high school IMO
If Miss Eckert had discussed her love life with me in 1955, I would not have understood what she was talking about.
As it happened, though, she didn’t. Can’t imagine why.
It’s a totally appropriate subject for 4 and 5 year olds.
