Swiss police believe that four French family members committed suicide by jumping from their apartment balcony.
Three adults and an eight-year old girl died last week after falling more than 20 metres from their flat in the lakeside city of Montreux.
A 15-year old boy was also left seriously injured and remains in a coma in a stable condition in hospital.
Police in Vaud said in a statement on Tuesday that they ruled out any third party involvement in their deaths.
"The investigation into the tragedy that occurred in Montreux...suggests that all the victims jumped from the balcony one after the other," police said.
"The police discovered a stepladder on the balcony and no evidence of a struggle."
Police were initially called to the property to execute a warrant in connection with the home-schooling of a child....

The police came last Thursday around 615 am to serve a warrant on the father regarding the home schooling of a 15-year old boy.
The family did not answer the knocking on the door.
That 15-year old was the lone survivor when all five jumped off the balcony a half-hour later.
What a tragic waste of life.
Horrible. They felt pushed to the edge by the government and it’s rules about COVID, education etc.
Here in this country people organize and work together to defend themselves in groups from such rules.
We might see a lot of this sort of thing over the next couple of years. Humanity has built a terrible world and a lot of people will want to get out of it.
Government kills.
If they thought it was so bad, they at least should have made one attempt to sneak across our southern border.
Parents murdered their kid.
Been watching those “Holiday in Guyana” People’s Temple reruns.
I disagree with the Swiss. I yhink it was really murder suicide, with one or both of the adults in effect murdering the kids. I blame the adults.
“Humanity has built a terrible world and a lot of people will want to get out of it.”
Much better that we would help those builders leave this world.
Get your booster shot and shut up...sarc
IOW——home schooling leads to suicide! WTAH? In Switzerland? Saw the initial article the other day about the deaths. Fear of government interference I guess. Sad dang state of affairs.
There must be much more to this story. I would not expect a family who is living in ‘virtual autarky, withdrawn from society’ would be living in an apartment in a city. They could have fled back to france or to many other places.
Government education is not a free service, it’s requirement. Obey or we come and take you away.
I agree.. Should be called murder-suicide.
Sooner or later, we all will.
The French news website I read BFM-TV said they had stocked up food in the apartment.
The father was actually a French government bureaucrat aged 40 years old, then worked for a Swiss company. His wife a dentist, the twin-sister an ophthalmologist.
On the door of their apartment “Jesus is the reason for the season”.
The French Constitutional Council issued a devastating ruling against homeschooling in France by upholding a new law that makes home education less accessible and subject to highly intrusive and restrictive rules.
The Government destroyed these lives...
After months of activism and advocacy, French homeschoolers had pinned their final hopes for stopping the law on a petition submitted by almost 100 members of the French National Assembly and Senate. The petition requested that the Conseil Constitutionnel (the French version of the supreme court) review and strike down Article 49 of the new law.
The proposal had moved between the National Assembly and the Senate for months. Whereas the Senate had amended the law to remove the offending article restricting homeschooling, the National Assembly, controlled by President Emmanuel Macronâs own party, reinserted the article.
Arguing that the new law imposed unreasonable restrictions on French citizensâ rights of conscience, human rights, and freedoms, the petition called on the council to strike down the law. Sadly, the council swept aside these concerns, ruling that the National Assembly had the authority to impose such restrictions on the practice of homeschooling in France.

They should have just taken out the ones coming for them. When you’ve decided to kill yourself, all the rest are free!
According to DM, they were obsessed with Covid conspiracy theories. So sad. Switzerland has (or had?) a vaccine mandate, so they may have been afraid they would be forced to get vaccines? Names sound Algerian, possibly Syrian.
I guess The Daily Expose and The NOQ Report lost some readers and a donor. What an awful tragedy. That poor little girl.
