Russia is no longer requesting Ukraine be “denazified” and is prepared to let Kyiv join the EU if it remains military non-aligned as part of ongoing ceasefire negotiations, according to four people briefed on the discussions.
Moscow and Kyiv are discussing a pause in hostilities as part of a possible deal that would involve Ukraine abandoning its drive for Nato membership in exchange for security guarantees and the prospect to join the EU, the people said under the condition of anonymity because the matter is not yet finalised.
The draft ceasefire document does not contain any discussion of three of Russia’s initial core demands — “denazification”, “demilitarisation”, and legal protection for the Russian language in Ukraine — the people added.
Envoys from both sides are to meet in Istanbul on Tuesday in a fourth round of peace talks designed to end president Vladimir Putin’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The concessions on Russia’s side come as its month-long ground offensive has largely stalled as a result of fiercer Ukrainian resistance than expected and Russian operational deficiencies.
But Ukraine and its western backers remain sceptical of Putin’s intentions, worrying that the Russian president could be using the talks as a smokescreen to replenish his exhausted forces and plan a fresh offensive.

The last one is the deal breaker.
Sure-
They joined NATo because they wanted the US to do the fighting for them. Understandable I suppose, unless you are one of America’s troops.

In 2009, on one of my deployments, (while at CENTCOM C2 Case @ Al Faw Pal), twice we were literally sent links and times, shared by Russian ops inside Iran, where we watched Russian engineers set off high tech 2 and 3 phased shaped charge anti armor mines, while they discussed how to better defeat our MRAP armor.
In both cases, everyone was vaporized, and sucked out 2 to 4 inch holes, leaving only pieces of the sappy plates our personnel were wearing.
Those were remote from Iran.
You are correct, we had thousands of casualties from Russian shaped charge mines, where the Russians were using Shia proxy combatants inside Iraq.
Fortunately we were able to finish exfill of the $5.5 Billion in Yellow Cake uranium from the joint Russian/Iraqi nuclear R&D site at Tuwaitha. Unfortunately, it was largely (if not entirely), repatriated to Putin from Canada through U-1 under SoS HRC under Obama.
CENTCOM is a huge AOR and we are talking a big time frame now. I was addressing the time period before we began meddling in former Soviet Republics and arming/training them, i.e. Republic of Georgia and Ukraine, and I was specific to mention Iraq.
As I said before, when you hear about our boys dying at the hands of advanced Russian built weapons used by Iran, some group in Iraq, Agfgahistan, Yemen, North Korea... do not cry foul. We started this game back up.

It's a tit for tat game.
FYI-
I have seen M113s blown up by artillery IEDs.
I have seen HMMWVs blown up by artillery IEDs.
I have seen armored HMMWV’s blown up by a platter charge (whatever we call that now) type IEDs.
I have seen M2s hit by RPGs (including mine).
I have seen M1’s hit by RPGs.
I have seen T72s that have gotten gored by sabot rounds.
Never have I seen anyone sucked out of holes.
