Iowa City Community School District offers teacher trainings in “ethnomathematics” and queer “Herstory,” according to documents obtained by Parents Defending Education (PDE).
“Ethnomathematics: The Study of Math as a Cultural Activity,” is the name of the teacher training session at ICCSD where “educators will approach the mathematics classroom as ethnographers, exploring the origins of our current practices and questioning the hierarchies they produce.”
“Teachers do not need to pretend to be ethnographers and study math through a cultural lens,” PDE Director of Outreach Erika Sanzi said in a statement. “They need to be able to teach students the math they need to know to pursue and succeed in the future whether in higher ed and/or career paths that require that knowledge.”
Another teacher training course offered by ICCSD called “WE ARE EVERYWHERE: Paris is Burning” highlights “Protest, Power, and Pride in Queer History and culture.”
“Learners will explore often forgotten Herstory and ideas of intersectionality and discuss topics of Race, Sexuality, Class, and Gender discussion focusing on LGBTQIA+,” it says, “through the eyes of New York City’s African American and Latinx Harlem drag-ball scene.”

Parents... If your school district is engaging this type of behavior - you need to take action. Doesn’t matter if you no longer have a kid in the district. Speak at board meetings, organize with other parents. Far too much harmful influence on these kids - stand up for them.

It appears the the old time teachers that were dedicated to making sure students were educated enough to be able to compete in the world the new “woke “ teachers just want students to be inclusive of all sexual preferences, diversified with respect to all 489 genders and make sure they are feeling guilty of being white or oppressed if of color.
Any district pushing this ethno math needs the first axiom: 45 goes into one 7 times.
Iowa City Community School District Board members and school district officials need to be tried, convicted, and sentenced to prison for child abuse.

95% of government teachers, administrators, support staff and 100% of teacher union employees are bad for children. They all need to be replaced and never allowed to get close to children again.
Those pockets, in terms of schools, are every school district.
Bingo. We are in Oklahoma and most of the schools have a mostly leftist faculty.
Iowa has 99 counties. In his final election as Governor Terry Branstad (R) won 98 of them. Iowa City’s Johnson County the lone exception. Now that Kim Reynolds has succeeded him she may do the same this fall.

I thought the term “Latinx” was out of favor, now that we know people of Latino ancestry don’t like it.
Not sure about 1/45=7 but but I’ll bet a whole bunch of 40’s can go into one.
