At the Edge of Kyiv, Ukrainians Show Off Their Counteroffensive

When Ukrainian forces hit a Russian tank with an American-made Javelin missile on a highway on the northern reaches of the capital, Kyiv, the explosion was so huge that it tossed the turret 10 yards down the road and shredded the rest of the vehicle and the men inside.

The charred body parts of Russian soldiers were still decomposing on the asphalt three weeks later, alongside scattered metal debris and ammunition. A single felt boot, favorite footwear for centuries in Russia’s frozen villages, lay blackened among the detritus.

“Good shot,” the Ukrainian commander said with elation, surveying the wreck. He pointed to blackened chunks of human flesh and bone on the road from Russian soldiers killed in the strike, and added, “It was all humane, it was all very quick.”

“They came four times,” Commander Sulim, 40, said. “Let them come again. I am waiting.”

Two tanks — a T-90 that was hit by the Javelin and a T-72 — according to the commander, were ambushed on the road on March 2 during the first week of the war. A half-dozen burned-out armored vehicles lay nearby — beside a cluster of houses and in a gully — wrecks from several skirmishes over the period of a week.

He said he had often interacted with Russian officers after fighting began in eastern Ukraine in 2014.

He told them that if Russia had offered a better life, he would have readily supported a union between the two countries. “But it’s not good,” he said. “The officers agreed with me. They are not living well there. They live in Moscow and St. Petersburg, but everywhere else they just survive.”

“I think we will not let them in,” Mr. Yunevich said of the Russian Army. “This is our land,” he said.

Both sides are building up for the next big push. Note that it took months for Desert Storm to materialize before the US was able to expel, with minimal friendly casualties, the Iraqi invasion force from Kuwait. Both Russia and Ukraine had basically peacetime military budgets, and lack the fully-functional and large Cold War surplus the US had to throw at the Desert Storm operation. It will take both sides a significant amount of time to mass the supplies and warm bodies necessary to feed into the meatgrinder that will determine the victor of this conflict.

* Both Russia and Ukraine have significant Cold War surplus equipment, but much of the original inventory was sold for scrap, was misappropriated for private disposal or has disintegrated over the decades. Only what was maintained, at significant cost, remains available for use in this conflict.

I’m ashamed that, as the Ukrainians are fighting for their lives, Jo Jo the Pedophile Clown is in Warsaw smelling and sniffing their wives and children. Biden is a disgrace!

Recent Javelin strike:

“The 25th Airborne Brigade of the Ukrainian Army claimed to strike a Russian BMP. As you can see, an ATGM is used, most likely the Javelin.”

The factory workers and the miners from my wife’s hometown of Alchevsk near Lugansk have often been taken directly from work into the Armed Forces of the “People’s Republic”. They have no choice. They are literally under the gun when conscripted. My cousin in Alchevsk reports many are returning as cadavers.

The factories were operating in maintenance mode only for many months. Blast furnaces cannot be shut down and restarted simply. Before the “Separatists”, Alchevsk was a thriving town. Today, it is largely a ghost town. Check Google Earth satellite pics to see the large impressive industrial area that is slowing going to seed.

The globalists are on the side of Russia. The fix was in. It was all a set up. Zelensky was supposed to accept the offer to flee. Then Biden and the Euro Weenies said, “Uhh ohh” as brave Ukranians started killing Russians invaders. Somebody didn’t take their bribe. Putin is the guy that Obama and the rest truly sucked up to.

Most Euros pretended to support Ukraine early expecting it to last two weeks. But the Eastern Europeans gave some extra critical support. Now, we have Ukraine punching way above its weight class.

Wait. Isn't Biden a globalist? The poster was criticizing Biden. And you had a problem with it.

“Recent Javelin strike.”

The BMP looks like it is dug in, with its treads and chassis at ground level or a bit below.

“It will take both sides a significant amount of time to mass the supplies and warm bodies necessary to feed into the meatgrinder that will determine the victor of this conflict.”

The Ukraine has the arsenal of Democracy at their disposal. Anti-tank missiles flowing by the thousands, right off the shelf out of inventory, from more than a dozen other countries.

Everyone would rather fight Russia in a proxy country, than wait for Russia to get around to them.

Firstest with the mostest advantage was to Russia initially, but one little Javelin equals one huge main battle tank and its crew, so the effect of the massive flow of anti-tank weapons from outside is further magnified in its effects.

I think it will be like when machine guns and rifles were introduced against the old Infantry formations that used to march into battle all neatly lined up. Mechanized forces like Russia’s are big targets for these missiles, and they are easily found by drones, and with a hostile population reporting their every move.

Month Two: the collapse of Russian armor.

Send more Javelins.

The implication being... ?

Come on: Don't be shy!

What is the significance of being "dug in?"

How does that invalidate or otherwise nullify the original statement?
