The BMP looks like it is dug in, with its treads and chassis at ground level or a bit below.

The implication being... ?

What is the significance of being "dug in?"

How does that invalidate or otherwise nullify the original statement?

It simply means it was not maneuvering. Perhaps it was trying to lower its profile. I didn’t see its treads or chassis.

The crew did not consult with me before it took up this position. Hell, maybe they abandoned the damn thing and beat feet. Maybe they told you what they were up to?

Armor in a hull-down position presents a smaller target in a LOS situation. But while the Javelin may acquire by LOS at ground level, it actually increases in altitude and strikes from a high angle, IIRC.
