‘The energy of migration has been very high.’ What’s behind the population dip in Chicago, other big US cities?
Chicago Tribune ^ | MAR 25, 2022 | MADELINE BUCKLEY and JOHN KEILMAN

...

Like in the Chicago area, the New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco metro areas — among the most expensive to live in the U.S. — saw decreases due to people moving out. Though they recorded more births than deaths in 2021, that increase was not enough to offset the migration out of the area.

...

“There is clearly a dispersion, but I think it’s a blip,” William Frey, senior fellow at the Brookings Institution’s metropolitan policy program, Brookings Metro, told The Associated Press. “We’re at one of the lowest levels of immigration in a long, long time, and that affects big metros like New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. That is going to come back. With the natural decrease, we will go back to normal.”

...

“I just don’t think there’s a reason to believe there’s a wholesale shift in people’s views about urban, suburban and rural life,” he said.

Instead of the usual opening paragraphs teaser, I give you the important bits further down.

Short version: The "experts" did a "study" but have no clue. Or pretend they have no clue.

Ironically 4-5 years ago the “experts” were saying the future was cities due to the millennial generation flocking to inner cities.

Short answer from experience in Chicago and no need for a study. Huge increases in property taxes, massive increases in crime rates and the inability to be safe in what used to be the best areas of the city.

“We’re at one of the lowest levels of immigration in a long, long time.

Two million "migrants" have poured over the border since Biden took office.

Or don't they count? They're certainly here.

Why would anyone want anyone want to leave crime ridden hellholes run by neo-communist lawyers and APES who hate and rob them?

Whites are behind this.

“millennial generation flocking to inner cities”

They went there, got their car and apartment broken into, got mugged by the locals and then very quietly made their escape....

Each new generation has to learn the secret truth about American cities the hard way.

Of course they are forbidden to say the real reasons.

Democrat administration refusing to stop crime for fear that someone might notice which race is committing the crime in disproportionate numbers.

The few remaining productive people being taxed to an extreme to pay the way for the indolent individuals who are so much loved by the administration.

Incompetent democrat administration that has no clue how to govern a big city.

I always have the same concern, however, I have been seeing good signs. Utah is booming and new coworkers in the past 2-3 years said they moved (1-California. 2-Washington, 2-New York) to escape the craziness of the left, especially with school policy. I don’t know how they will vote, but, they are not loony leftists. I think people are voting with their feet, and people are more and more choosing to live in states that fit their politics.

They know the answer the client wanted.
The goal was to write a report to justify it.

That’s the life of the consultant.

100%. However, your analysis means you are not qualified to be a peer of William Frey, senior fellow at the Brookings Institution’s metropolitan policy program, Brookings Metro. It also means you’re NOT a dumb ass.

There is simply no other explanation for the report’s conclusion, which any functioning human being knows and understands.

This should be called, “The Blue Pill Study”.

Weird. It’s as if people don’t like living in high crime urban areas that defund police and lenient judges

Really? Location, location, location, away from crime, crime, and more crime.

Detroit used to be the fourth largest city in the US in population. Now it’s 27th. Maybe these Einsteins can figure out what might have gone wrong there. (Hint - it starts with a ‘D’ and ends in ‘rats’).
