Russian precision-guided missiles are failing up to 60% of the time in Ukraine, three US officials with knowledge of intelligence on the issue told Reuters, a possible explanation for the poor progress of Russia's invasion.
Since President Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24, Russia has failed to achieve basic objectives such as neutralizing Ukraine's air force despite a vastly larger armed forces.
The US officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the information, did not provide evidence to support the assessment and did not disclose what precisely was driving high Russian missile failure rates.
Though Reuters could not determine what a standard failure rate would be for air-launched cruise missiles, two experts interviewed by Reuters said any failure rate of 20% and above would be considered high.
The Kremlin says that what it calls a "special military operation" is going to plan and that Russia will achieve all of its aims. It casts the United States as an "empire of lies" which has unleashed an information war on Russia...
In recent days, Russia's defense ministry has lauded the professionalism and missile technology of the armed forces. It says claims of failures are misleading propaganda distributed by Russia's enemies headed by the United States.
MISSILE FAILURES
US defense officials told reporters this week that the Pentagon assesses that Russia has launched more than 1,100 missiles of all kinds since the war began...
Citing US intelligence, three US officials said the United States estimated that Russia's failure rate varied day-to-day, depended on the type of missile being launched, and could sometimes exceed 50%. Two of them said it reached as high as 60%...

1. Go look at the Patriot system’s failure rate.
2. Go look at what happened when we were firing AIM-54 Phoenix missiles prior to the F-14’s retirement - they would drop off the launch rail, then explode due to aging rocket engines.
3. Read more posts in the thread - a lot of these pics are of unfired rockets or discarded booster stages.
Changing the subject is admission of being deceitful
This is the same media that has been lying to us about everything. I believe NOTHING they say.
For instance, that missile is in the trees. Why? Was Russia trying to blow up trees? Why is in intact? No missile would be so intact after impact.
Those have been around since 1962 and Ukraine had a bunch of them pre-war.
That is surprisingly rusty for a bomb that was supposedly just dropped. It’s also surprisingly intact - if it didn’t detonate, it should have considerably more damage, especially to the nose. That one just looks like it had something fall on and crush the tail section, like it fell off a truck or something fell on it without the fuse being inserted.
Using phony visuals is 100% deceitful.
An obvious fake photo. You really are an idiot for posting these and making wild claims about them.
Because Russian missile quality control stinks.
Being a Russian troll is deceit at it’s utmost
You’re just an idiot propagandist for Ukraine, a corrupt country that needed invaded.
Ok, all Russian unexploded ordinance is fake. Russians, doing great! /s
No, just pointing out that our systems have had abysmal failure rates at times too, that old rockets exploding or failing is not nationally exclusive, and that underestimating a potential enemy based on unreliable intel is a realllly bad idea.
Would you explain this point on an example of this tread?
Nice, good way to show your true colors.
The funny thing is that this tread doesn’t include a single real photo of a failed rocket.
Those images you are posting are fakes. We are not as stupid in America as you Ukrainians are. We are not gullible. Your president is a corrupt mentally ill homosexual that has been helping the democrats in America conduct corruption in America.
“Russian precision-guided missiles are failing up to 60% of the time in Ukraine”
That’ll sure anger the Putinists here.
If, by “true colors”, you mean I am not supporting the corrupt Ukrainian regime, YOU BET I AM NOT!
Wow...... what a load of crap from a Putin puppet living in the American heartland but is a Russian sympathizer outed from the closet
Should there be a /s?
I believe neither side’s propaganda in this war, but you are correct. I’ve seen very few actual pictures of failed (as in flew but did not explode) ordnance not only in this thread but in general from the theater.
The load of crap is you supporting Ukraine’s corrupt regime that is backing the corrupt regime here in America, but you always have done that.
