Nebraska US Rep. Fortenberry found guilty in campaign probe

LOS ANGELES (AP) — U.S. Rep. Jeff Fortenberry of Nebraska was convicted Thursday on charges that he lied to federal authorities about an illegal $30,000 contribution to his campaign from a foreign billionaire at a 2016 Los Angeles fundraiser.

A federal jury in LA deliberated about two hours before finding the nine-term Republican guilty of one count of falsifying and concealing material facts and two counts of making false statements. Fortenberry was charged after sitting for two interviews with FBI agents who were investigating the donor, Gilbert Chagoury, a Nigerian billionaire of Lebanese descent.

Fortenberry showed no emotion as the verdict was read but the youngest of his five daughters in the front of the gallery began sobbing uncontrollably. After the jury left the courtroom, Fortenberry walked over to his wife and the two daughters present and clasped them in a hug. He then kissed his wife on the lips and returned to a seat next to his lawyer.

Outside the courthouse, Fortenberry said the process had been unfair and he would appeal immediately. He would not say if he would suspend his campaign for reelection, saying he was going to spend time with his family.

Wonder if they have a DC thingee going out in LA, too [get the target into the DC District, where you have a "reliable" stooge-judge to beat 'em up real good]?

This particular move is the "Ted Stevens maneuver", where they set the target up in the run-up year to shave 10 or 15 percent points off his final total.

It's actually fascinating how many different "maneuvers" the DNC-Media complex has for a peeling a needed seat here or there.

What will happen is he either stays in, and they'll stuff the ballot boxes to beat him, or he'll drop out, and they'll stuff the ballot boxes to beat his replacement.

This Media "kerfluffle" over the "trial" will be used to justify the "victory" either way.

Stuff like what happened to Cal Cunningham in North Carolina in 2020 is fairly rare on the Democrat side.

California, especially places like LA or SF are enemy territory, jurisdictionally speaking.

You KNOW that the DNC Media will be hammering this hard for the next seven months.

Fortunately, I think we're gonna get some assistance from our good friends at True The Vote that will put a nice damper on the ballot stuffing this cycle.

So, I'm actually predicting joy, not doom.

The DNC would Have The Sadz if they wasted all that time and energy just to have "those rotten vote watcher kids" ruin their perfect plan, just like in Virginia last year.
