You can have the normal xy scenario for your sex and still have weird issues with the things that make you a man or woman when someone looks at you ..such as with Congenital hyperplasia.
You then look to the chromosome...but should you....I can’t answer that but I can see why one be might identify as different sex with such an issue..
Again this is different than the clearly dude swimmer who decided to be a woman

A good follow-up question would be “Does that mean you believe that the differences between the sexes are biological, and they are not just social constructs?”
How about “ Are you a woman and if you are, then why?”

Of those in casual sex classification may go astray, “intersex”, the largest by far types confused in either direction are hormonal problems. In adrenal hyperplasia of either the congenital (more severe) or late onset types a girl makes too much male hormones which morph her into looking pseudo masculine. My understanding is it can be treated, although improved treatments may be desirable and starting treatment earlier when possible may help. In androgen insensitivity an XY “boy” makes normal boy hormones but they don’t work due to a broken receptor. They end up looking externally female, but lacking the internal female parts. They’re surprised when puberty isn’t normal. And if their gonads ever turn cancerous they’re really surprised when the diagnosis is not ovarian but testicular cancer. I don’t think specific medical treatment exists for that. How to handle them is philosophically tough.

It is still wrong for a judge to use feelings and opinions instead of the law.
So, a civil society will survive how long based on feelings and opinions that are not truthful?
