And that, simply put, is why UKraine is on its own, no one doubts this threat.

Oh, you'd be surprised how many Freepers think they know exactly what Putin will do, insist that the Russians will never use nukes, and demand that the US go to war with Russia ASAP. Even had one tell me we should give nukes to Ukraine.

Lots of 'crazy' out there - must be ergot fungus in the Wheaties, or something...

They started moving/prepping months before. Many of those units came from Siberia.

Depends on what your definition of “existential threat” is.

There is a lot of truth to that.

The Russians weren’t even interested in western Ukraine until oil was found there. Their interest is simply in raping that country. Russia gets 60% of its revenues from oil exports. Europe gets 40% of their oil from Russia.

In 2012 massive oil and gas reserves were found in Crimea. Crimea signed a $10 billion exploration contracts with Shell and Chevron to develop the new found oil and gas fields. These oil and gas products would compete in Europe with Russia’s oil and gas, reducing Russia’s oil revenues, which we recall amount to 60% of their total GDP. Russia annexed Crimea in 2014, cancelling the contracts with Shell and Chevron.

But Ukraine still had massive reserves in, you guessed it, Donetsk and Luhansk, and other areas East of the Dnieper River. In 2019, Energy Secretary Rick Perry visited Ukraine, and soon after Ukraine awarded exploration contracts to a consortium of U.S. oil companies. Again, these oil reserves would compete in Europe with Russian oil, so Putin is invading Ukraine to shut down this latest attempt to extract Ukrainian oil and sell it in competition with Russian oil.

This explanation makes more sense to me than the “Putin feels threatened by NATO expansion” excuses for the invasion.

If the Ukes allow some small region in the west to be its own republic, but the OIL belongs to Ukraine, do ya think Pootypoot would allow that? Nope.

Friends that we know say the Russia Submarine pack moved through the Baltic Sea months ago and now off the coast of California, the Navy and Air Force has been flying planes looking for them. Is the Pentagon worried? You bet. I think Joe has been trying to act like this is no big deal while DC is getting ready to go underground. They know the WH has helped unleash this shit storm.

Think about what would be the conventional way to do it.

We could have a 100 mile buffer zone between us and the Narco State. And we would intercept illegal colonizers on Mexican soil. No longer such a thing as an anchor baby. It would be like a 100 mile wide Puerto Rico. Let them decide for themselves if they wanna be a territory of the US, their own country, or an emBASEeeed portion of Mexico.

EmBASEee Strategee:
https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/4043681/posts

A few years ago, McCaw of McCaw Cellular proposed a plan to buy all of Baja Mexico. Run it as a separate country attuned to the needs of tourists and retirees. The land would skyrocket in value.

Yup, let’s carve up northern and northwestern Mexico. The people living there won’t mind much at all.

We set up a 100 mile buffer zone between us and that there Narco State, a Clear and Present Danger to our citizens, as well as an obvious channel for Illegal Colonization and Anchor Baby Dropping so that the perps can be caught and returned on Mexican Soil.

Means nothing. Russia is not going to be faced with an existential threat.

If Trump were still in the WH, none of this would be happening. NO ONE messed with The Donald.

Japan was grinding China into a bloody mess. They were not forced into WWII. They literally started it long before we did anything.

Sounds like a signal for the Dhimmis and war Hawks like John Bolt-on to declare a ‘no-fly zone’ over Ukraine.

“Nothing like a good old nuclear war, to show how tough we are!”, say the war hawks.

MARANATHA !

Lol. You are, of course, correct.

Folks toss this word around without understanding it means the threat is so bad that it would destroy the existence of the country in question. I don’t think this war does that.

My comments were not directed to you but rather at the editors who engaged in headline baiting with a meaningless story.

I saw some of those NATO troops at DFW airport today. “Males” going down the escalator in front of me holding hands. Spaghetti arms. I guarantee, I’m 63 and I can deadlift twice as much as all four of these US Army fags put together.

“ NATO troops”. Don’t make me laugh

“ If Trump were still in the WH, none of this would be happening. NO ONE messed with The Donald.”

I totally agree…and not just because no one messed with him. If he had still been president, we would have had more normal nation-to-nation relations with Russia and the U.S. corruption (our politicians laundering activities) would not have ruled our foreign policy. This would have allowed for a negotiated resolution to the issues that were creating the casus belli. Donald would have been willing and able to keep the peace.
