BERLIN, March 21 (Reuters) - German producer prices maintained their record-breaking rise in February, increasing 25.9% year on year mainly because of energy prices, Federal Statistics Office data showed on Monday.

The jump in factory gate costs, considered a leading indicator for consumer prices, was the biggest since 1949, the statistics office said.

February's producer prices did not take into account the effects of Russia's attack on Ukraine.

Energy prices were up 68% from February 2021, the statistics office said. Stripping out energy prices, producer prices rose 12.4% year on year.

Greta has no concern over economic “stuff”. BTW, US producer prices jumped 13.8% in Feb. Thanks, Joe! You’re doing just a little better than Jimmy did when inflation hit 22%, you twit!

Inflation has many components that are “under the radar” and not reported.

I just had a recent example of how this works.

We had some custom furniture delivered—it took five months to make. We paid in advance because we trusted the vendor (had done business with them before and they have been in business for decades) and because I knew that inflation was about to hit hard so that froze our price.

The vendor was in very tough shape on this deal—almost certainly losing money due to rising costs in the five months—and they tried a little “bait and switch” to recoup some of their losses.

How? Even though the arrangement was free delivery, they changed their process, hired a third party vendor to do the deliveries, and made us work out a deal with that vendor paying them to deliver.

In normal times I would have demanded free delivery and gotten it—I am very skilled at being an annoying and demanding consumer.

But—the delivery price was not that bad—and I wanted to keep a good relationship with this local furniture vendor—so I ate it without complaint.

Bottom line, though—in every transaction these days everybody is gonna take a hit—but a lot of it may be “off the books”.

What does Germany produce that the world can’t live without?

Brats? Beer? Polka Bands?

Just move to Wisconsin! :)

Off top, cars were the only thing I could think of, so I looked:

I predict Europe will be in an outright depression a year from now. And there will be another “Arab Spring” soon because of the rise in food prices. The world thanks you Brandon.

From this point on I’m expecting him to try and blame inflation and everything else on Russia. Won’t work though, inflation was kicking in the moment he took office in anticipation of his horrible policies. He and the Dems own it.

Schadenfreude!

Trump tried to warn them about the foolishness of depending on Russia for energy needs. He also warned them about their low defense contributions. They mocked and laughed at Trump.

Now, they will suffer enormous pain, and I feel fine.

btw, Dementia Joe sez that all ya’lls problems would be solved if you’d just convert all your transportation needs into all electric, so maybe ya’ll should give that a try next ...
