Ginni Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, sits on a board of the Council for National Policy, an ultra-conservative organization that encourages political leaders to contest the 2020 election results. As such, she signed an open letter in December calling for the removal of Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger from the Republican party for joining the House Jan. 6 Committee.
That is no surprise, as Thomas consistently shares the political viewpoint of the loony aunt who lives in the basement. She believes that America is under threat from the “deep state” and the “fascist left” and from “transsexual fascists.” It’s also no surprise that she attended the Jan. 6 rally herself, as she admitted last week.
But it’s challenging for the Thomases to avoid conflicts in their separate jobs, so they have simply stopped trying.
Federal judges are guided by a code of conduct. Among them: A judge cannot sit in judgment of something that involves a family member; and the judge must recuse even if there is the appearance of impropriety.
Unfortunately, the rules are different in the highest court, where justices decide for themselves whether they have a conflict, and Thomas has rarely made such a decision in his three decades on the bench.
So the Thomases make the rules as they go along. Besides her CNP perch, Ginni Thomas founded a group with Trump acolyte Steve Bannon, which wages a “30-front war” on issues already before the court, such as voting rights, immigration and abortion.
Approval of the court has fallen to a record-low 40%, 72% of Americans support a stronger code of ethics, and nearly 80% favor term limits.
That’s a historic rebuke for the most unimpeachable branch of government, which no longer even makes the effort to rise above the political vitriol.

Another media outlet that doesn’t allow comments on its stories.
If your writings start off accusatory, bugger off.
Why not simply say she is a supporter of white supremacy and save the world wasting time on anything else you might want to say?
As opposed to anti-American white hating wingnuts on the bench itself??
The writers are about fifty years behind history.
Who is the flaked out liberal who wrote this crap? There is no surprise that they do not take credit for it.
Liberal woman expressing her views - courageous.
Conservative woman expressing her views - wingnut.
To these crazy, morally bankrupt, wild eyed leftists, anyone to the right of Stalin or Hitler is an Ultra right wing Conservative.
Saw “Newark StarLedger” and knew there was no sense in reading further.
Who are the members of the Star-Ledger Editorial Board? Where do they live? Just asking for a friend.....
They are laying the groundwork for the recusal demand should the Jan 6th BS hit the SC. As if a rat judge would ever recuse under any condition.
These media sources have a slight to moderate liberal bias. They often publish factual information that utilizes loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by using appeal to emotion or stereotypes) to favor liberal causes. These sources are generally trustworthy for information, but may require further investigation.
Overall, we rate the Star-Ledger moderately Left-Center Biased based on editorial positions and endorsement that mostly favor the left. We also rate them High for factual reporting due to proper sourcing and a clean fact check record.
Now The Star-Ledger merely has to quote NBC...
If we are going to hold Justice Thomas accountable for his wife’s views and conduct (all of which I agree with BTW), let’s apply that across the board in DC. How about all the DC power couples who are conflicted by their spouse’s jobs? With low federal pay compared to the extremely expensive cost of living in the DC area, many federal employees either have their spouse employed by the federal government or by some private sector entity that does business with the federal government. Conflicts are everywhere in terms of obtaining these positions, compensation, advancement.... There is no easier way to influence a politician or powerful bureaucrat than by pulling the strings to get his spouse a high-paying job. And of course the other dirty move is seen with all the government lawyers in DC who rotrate between government jobs and jobs with law firms and companies that have to do business with the government, often in the very same office, over and over. Add in the spouses and you get a ... swamp.
Democrats are evil scum.
When the editorial board is full of libtard dingbats this is the vomit you can expect 🤪
Journalism at its finest. HA!
This is how they desire to coerce Thomas into retiring, so Biden will be able to stack the court again in their favor?
When the time comes, I hope an historian collates the best of Thomas’ opinions. The few I’ve read are wonderful lessons in American Constitutional history.
