Harvard University closed a police station located in a residential hall because students' felt that the presence itself was a "violent, visual intimidation tactic."

The Harvard University Police Department's substation at the Mather House was closed in February because students felt it created an intimidating environment, according to the Harvard Crimson....

..."The real effect that the presence of the HUPD substation has on the Mather community is simply a violent, visual intimidation tactic that students are forced to see every time they enter the house," Taylor said....Taylor also reached out to the house's faculty deans regarding concerns that armed Harvard University Police Department officers ate meals alongside students on various occasions in the dining hall over the course of the 2019-2020 academic year, adding that their presence made residents feel uncomfortable.

See how “pleasant” it feels when you are attached by a bunch of savages.

Grow Up.

Will they complain if they are a victim of a crime?

Then some woman will be raped, and she’ll sue Harvard for lack of police protection.

Yep. About why the police took so long to respond.

Since campus reopened last fall, armed officers have not been permitted to eat in upperclassman dining halls, according to the faculty deans.

Tell me you admit to brainwashing students without Telling me you admit to brainwashing students. If it is fine for HPD to eat in freshmen dining hall, why would the supposedly more mature upper class care?

Does no one in University Leadership have a fully functioning
set of ——s anymore?

Tell these students to shut up or leave.

Remind them that even one rape is too many, and having
robberies and assaults proliferate isn’t an option.

Why was there a police station in the first place?

Was it a high crime rate? Too many rapes? Gun fights? I suspect this key fact has been deliberately left out.

’ feeling ‘watched and policed’

If they post on social media then they’re being ‘watched and policed’. They might not feel like it, but they are; we all are.

Then some woman will be raped, and she’ll sue Harvard for lack of police protection.

Then the courts will decide the criminal is actually a victim and receive a hand slap, if anything.

Any such facility in the Mather House should be called the Beaver Station, anyway.

Now that the police station is closed, were all the police removed from the payroll, or are they all working undercover? I wonder how that makes the affected students feel, that ANYBODY around them could be a cop.

well now .... first it was the local ROTC who made college students “feel bad” acros the country. now its the local police. never ind the local “fast food joint that ran on beliefs”. so here’s the score:
1. no honor and duty to coountry.
2. no sense of law and order.
3. no sense of business run by personal religious beliefs.

ain’t much left is there, for one of the “prestigious centers producing lawyers in the country”?

The report is actually 2018-2020, but to be quick, for 2020 there were 16 rapes out of 133 ‘criminal offenses’ consisting largely of burglaries and aggravated assault.
