On Thursday’s broadcast of CNN’s “New Day,” Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm called for “everyone to step up, whether it’s gas station owners, whether it’s oil companies” to increase energy supply and said there is “concern about whether there is profiteering happening at the gas station level, as well as at the oil company level.”

Will be interesting to know what strong-arming Obamas/Biden hit men will use to get them in line.
It’s one thing to have collusion between stations and that’s certainly illegal and should be investigated (and most likely false).
But any station that breaks the monopoly on price by even a penny is going to have far, far better sales.
Besides - higher gas rates = higher gas taxes = more money for her socialist causes.

The profit on gas at gas stations is highly regulated. The only reasons gas stations sell gas is to attract customers to buy beer, cigarettes and lottery tickets. The sales ratio of gas to garbage is one to sixteen. That’s why they raise the price so quickly because if they run out of gas, which they don’t make money off, then they lose the sales on beer, cigarettes etc. But in Florida, they can’t raise the price until they’ve bought gas at the higher price. Thus you see these tiny gas trucks like you’d have seen fueling commercial airliners circa 1955 running around from store to store. They have their own keys to the tanks so they can pump gas at two am. They pump 100 gallons and leave a bill at the higher price so the store can raise the price.
It's not the oil companies.
Not the refineries.
Not those who transport fuel from the refineries to the gas stations.
Not the gas station owners themselves, the majority of which are owned by small mom and pop interests.
Who does that leave?
The Federal Government, State Governments, County Governments and Local municipalities -- all of which TAX every gallon of gas!
At the current price per gallon here in HELLINOIS, all Federal, State and County taxes account for anywhere from 62 cents per gallon to over 84 cents per gallon, depending on where you live in the state and the current cost per gallon, which is around $4.69.
So as for that dumbass Granholm and every f'n moron in the Biden mis-Administration, YOUR FAILED POLICIES are the result of high gas prices, and you LIKE them to be high because the higher the price per gallon, the more TAXES are collected, especially in states that have a SALES TAX on gas, just like here in HELLINOIS.
Don't blame the gas station owners. They're making 10-15 cents per gallon. GOVERNMENT profits more than everyone else in the supply chain for a gallon of gas.
That's FACT.
