Massive explosions in a number of cities in #Belarus. Residents of Baranavichy, Luninets, Stolin, Hantsavichy, Slutsk, Kletsk and other cities reported sounds similar to explosions. We are trying to understand what happened
BTW, with Russia having been weakened, Venezuela and Cuba and many others, will feel ‘orphaned/abandoned’ and will have to seek other partners and directions.>>> And i have been saying that China basically takes over Russia.
From my home page and a recent thread...

but hey, let’s go ahead and talk about it. None of the other side wanted to:
The emBASEee strategee

So we have this thread.
To be candid, somewhere on FR I have even advocated this strategy towards Mexico. Set up a buffer zone between us and their Narco state. Intercept drug and human trafficking. The illegal colonizers are still caught in Mexico. They can have a taste of freedom in their own country.

From my home page
Secession
It's time for us to jettison those who reject our national values because there's no changing them. Time to secede.
We should extend the invitation to secede on a county by county basis.
While we're at it, since we'd be forming a new country, we should extend the invitation to counties in Canada and Mexico as well.
Note that this option is becoming increasingly popular. https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/4000029/posts

Where do you get your information on how the war is going? The mainstream media? Because of the rampant propaganda from both sides, nobody really has a clue about how it’s progressing. IJS...
Naaa. It’s the Ghost of Kiev.
Smashing rookies out of the sky with his potato lasers.
One would think that satellite photos would be rampantly available.
Various Telegram channels are reporting that the explosions heard in Belarus are the military training.
.
This is a two-bladed sword. It could make Lukashenko distance himself from Putin by refusing to further military assistance.
I am leaning toward Ukraine's sabotage. So far, their best course of action has been to destroy supplies for Russian troops. This could be a natural extension to such a strategy.
Checked satellite imagery for any evidence of large explosions but nothing shows up, skies are generally clear in the region and it is quite cold again (average temp in Belarus is around -7 C just before sunrise there). From several hours before this report to an hour after it, no sign of anything happening at all in the entire war zone. (Large explosions would probably show up like small thunderstorm clouds would do as bright dots especially given there is no overhanging cloud cover at present time).
My guess, possibly an anti-aircraft barrage brought on by false info about a bombing raid from NATO or Ukraine? That would not show up on satellite imagery but would presumably be rather noisy and would occur at similar times around different high-value targets which would be military depots near those towns? Just a guess. Not a good situation if war jitters lead to irrational actions.
Perfect time since the mighty red army is struggling to fight off Ukraine tractors ;)
Cool, keep reminding them of their phoney ace. What ever happened to the babooshka brigade?

I’m thinking that pretty much everybody and his brother on the planet have cellphone and there would be at something definitive forthcoming. So far, zilch.
IIRC you were looking at a webcam in central Kyiv and decided nothing much must be going on in the war since there was nothing on that webcam!
last night’s counteroffensive per the WSJ:
Updated March 16, 2022 9:18 pm ET
KYIV, Ukraine—Ukraine said its military had launched a counteroffensive in its capital, Kyiv, and other key cities...The thump of distant shelling echoed through the center of Kyiv overnight, while Ukrainian forces appeared to counterattack in the outlying towns of Irpin, Bucha and Ukrainian forces also said they pressed an offensive south and east of the southern port of Mykolaiv, moving in the direction of Kherson, the only Ukrainian regional capital occupied by Russia since the war began Feb. 24. Ukraine said it carried out an airstrike on the Kherson airport, which is now a Russian air base, and satellite imagery of the tarmac showed seven destroyed or damaged Russian helicopters, some of them engulfed in flames. Kyiv also said it shot down two Russian Su-30SM jets over the Black Sea off Odessa.

You don’t.
But I’m glad Putin was defeated yet again, after yet another long day of being repeatedly destroyed.
Not to worry. China is adopting...
Probably “refugees” taking advantage of the instability in the region.
I think the Russians are using Belarus as a military thoroughfare, recruiting of fighters, and tactical staging area.
You are likely seeing the Ukrainian response.....
Okay, someone else then.
But there is a ton of information out there on what is happening in the war.
It’s just that technology has changed since, for example, the Gulf Wars when there were live feeds of the war on CNN or Fox News.
It may seem to you the opposite, but in fact there is a lot more information available regarding this war than was available in, for example, the Gulf Wars because cellphones are everywhere and countless people on the ground in Ukraine constantly upload videos to telegram, tiktok, twitter and other social media sites.
