PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Top Democrats are pleading for President Joe Biden to act alone on some of the party’s core legislative priorities, viewing executive action as their best hope of delivering on their promises and energizing liberal voters they worry are going to sit out the elections in November.
In areas like voting rights, police reform and immigration where Democratic bills have been thwarted by GOP opposition in the Senate, the leaders of the influential Black and Asian American caucuses made their requests directly to Biden during a recent meeting at the White House, urging him to issue executive orders that could push their proposals forward without votes in the House and Senate.
The pleas come at a particularly desperate moment for House Democrats, who are heading into a difficult midterm election season where the loss of only a handful of seats will end their majority. Biden’s flagging poll numbers are adding to the steep headwinds Democrats are facing in a midterm election year that historically has been unfavorable to the party in power.
The hunger among Democrats for Biden to go it alone is widely shared. House leadership and rank-and-file members echoed Jayapal’s sentiments on the path forward as Democrats gathered for their annual issues conference in Philadelphia — an event that almost didn’t happen, fittingly enough, due to party infighting over new emergency funding for COVID-19 relief.

He should go it alone, but not how they think. He should govern as the lame duck he is and throw the progressives overboard and govern as a populist.
We’ve learned the left is happy to enact its agenda through executive action even when the congress has specifically voted down such measures. That’s how we got daca and judges blocking trump efforts to undo executive edicts saying people were relying on the policy in place and there was no good reason to abandon it. This is real insurrection. It’s anti constitutional, anti representative government. It’s totalitarianism under the fig lead of protecting “democracy.” Doublespeak is alive and thriving.

any EO on police reform would only apply to federal law enforcement....anything else would just be stopped in the Courts...immigration etc...

A dictatorship is a form of government characterized by a single leader or group of leaders that hold government power promised to the people and little or no toleration for political pluralism or independent media.
Gosh, when President Trump issued Executive Orders - and he issued far fewer than resident Biden has so far - the Left claimed it was tyranny and he was acting as a Caesar.
Yet now they’re urging him do to just that. How strange.
Liberals LOVE to leap-frog all the legitimate, established protocols and formal mechanics of getting stuff done.
It's the only way they can promote their agenda because otherwise, their lies, treason and criminality would be TOO obvious!
