To those who think political commentator Bill Maher has somehow drifted from his traditionally liberal beliefs, the comedian says it's actually those on the left who have become too extreme in theirs.
That was one of the sentiments made by the talk show host of Real Time with Bill Maher to conservative political commentator Ben Shapiro on a coming episode of Shapiro's The Ben Shapiro Show: Sunday Special.

Correct, they only used Free Speech as a TOOL to gain power, same as Lenin did 100 years ago. Free speech was only to be respected when they were in the opposition.

Bill was guilty of being one of those people who thought that the so-called “Religious Right” was the biggest threat to this country.

Both are true.
The left is maybe even more leftist than they used to be, but the big thing that has changed is that they used to fein being moderates while having underground marxist ideas. That allowed naive semi-moderate leftists like Maher to think he was right to support them. They never believed in free speech or civil liberties (except in individual cases that helped leftists themselves) but they always paid lip service to them. They are not concealing the radical nature of their beliefs as much as they used to and it’s getting harder for people like Maher to defend them.
And as I said, they used the “Religious Right” as their bogeyman.
Glad he’s beginning to see some light but, Bill - YOU had a hand in digging this hole, pal.

Maher acts puzzled, and I think he truly is.
Perfect example (on ID politics, defining people by their ethnic group): “I don’t think Hispanics are sitting around saying, ‘Gee, we need more illegal Mexicans up here to take my job at a much lower wage’”.
He’s blinded by the darkness here: the Left says, “We need more Mexicans up here to flood the zone, ruin the system by overloading it, and creating a dependent voter base”.
When he finally sees that, maybe he’ll not be puzzled any more.
Well, a lot of us were wrong about the Bushes too back in the day. So there is that.
Bill helped the fraudsters become what they are.
No, Bill, they were only for “free speech” when the US was still a conservative country.
Now that it’s not, since they’ve achieved their revolution, they’ll blockade any dissent.
Left-Right is a distraction technique.
The people in charge have no strong beliefs - except about themselves. Most Americans who hold “right” or “left” beliefs hold them weakly and follow their family, their geography, or, increasingly, their social media feels.
Bill Maher, Jimmy Kimmel, etc are ACTORS. They are weakly leftist because it’s fashionable and they need to be for their jobs.
Norman Lear, by contrast, was a content producer and a fanatical anti-Christian, anti-American propagandist.
Don’t make your neighbors your enemies. Mostly, they aren’t.
