Left-Right is a distraction technique.
The people in charge have no strong beliefs - except about themselves. Most Americans who hold “right” or “left” beliefs hold them weakly and follow their family, their geography, or, increasingly, their social media feels.
Bill Maher, Jimmy Kimmel, etc are ACTORS. They are weakly leftist because it’s fashionable and they need to be for their jobs.
Norman Lear, by contrast, was a content producer and a fanatical anti-Christian, anti-American propagandist.
Don’t make your neighbors your enemies. Mostly, they aren’t.
IMHO there’s really a mixture of both opportunism and the true believer syndrome, sometimes even in the same person.
I agree Jimmy Kimmel is a primarily a hack who is 98% motivated by opportunism. So is Stephen Colbert. They know their corporate bosses will continue paying them well, regardless of ratings, so long as they continue sneering at Republicans, Christians and patriots.
Bill Maher, on the other hand, might have at least some pangs of conscience and a genuine concern for civil liberties.
Kimmel started as the “sports guy” on an LA rock station and didn’t have much success until meeting Adam Carolla (who seems to be the brilliant one of the “Man Show” duo-despite being a poor reader.)
