The Russian invasion of Ukraine has laid bare the world’s dependence on Russian President Vladimir Putin and its neighbor now under siege, including the fact that the two countries supply much of the grain needs around the globe and prices for grain are now the highest they have been in six decades.

Russia and Ukraine provide 29 percent of global wheat exports, 19 percent of global corn supplies, and 80 percent of the global sunflower oil exports

I am a farmer and even with the EXTREMELY high inputs we are paying there is still profit in the high prices now. however if the Ukraine has to sit out a production year and fertilizer exports from Russia continue to be interrupted there could be serious supply issues. If we (US) have a poor crop due to weather drought and such we could certainly not only see astronomical prices for food but there is a real possibility of shortages leading to famine in some parts of the world.

The American farmer, unleashed, with a little fertilizer, gas and water could probably make up the difference. Brandon won’t let them do that.

Brace For High Oil Prices, Inflation, And An Economic Slowdown

"According to Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, if the West sanctions Russian oil exports, the price for the commodity could reach $300 per barrel, and although this is quite an unlikely scenario, in reality, oil prices do seem to have quite a while left to rise."

Food shortages?
Just wait for the demand for corn ethanol to satisfy oxygenation requirements for gasoline - food vs fuel - which wins?

And many people here will cheer on their own demise.

Failure to see patterns in life can be dangerous.

Grain from Russia? Whatever happened to Iowa? Nebraska? Wheat growing for hundreds and hundreds of miles??

We act like we can’t grow anything here, produce anything here.
