The HP was everywhere, chasing speeders going 61 instead of the mass murderers that were everywhere. Nixon sealed his fate with that stupid stunt. All kinds of country songs came out about it, but “Convoy” and “The White Knight” were the biggest.

$4.29 was the cheapest around except the Lukoil station.

It’s starting to look like Joe Biden isn’t good at this presidency thing.

I lived in Montana from 1977 - 1979. IF you were caught speeding (during the day) the fine/bond was $5.00 payable to the Highway Patrol officer right then. You did NOT have to go to court and it did not go on your record.

There were different rules for night. You could pay several $$$ per mile over the limit at night.

“I can’t drive 55” by Sammy Hagar was the best. It came out in 1984. >>> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvV3nn_de2k&t=2s

They used to let you crack a cold beer when you reached Top of the World Pass, as you pressed on toward (or coming from) Yellowstone.

Fact, you used to be able to drink a beer or other beverage of your choice as long as you were deemed sober, by a cop, usually.

Watch the price of diesel fuel. Not only does diesel power the trucks and trains that move goods all over the country, it is the life blood of modern agriculture. Tractors that plant and combines that harvest and transport crops are all diesel powered. These spiraling fuel prices will mean even higher food costs. The smug elites with their electric cars might drive to their Whole Foods store and find the price of tofurkey unaffordable.

And now that Brandon has banned Russian petroleum the price is going to go even higher.

I topped off my tank today here in Rome, NY. It was $4.39 a gallon. Being retired, I don’t go out much...maybe once a week to head to the grocery store, and periodically, a doctor’s appointment, so a tank lasts me a while.

“Nixon sealed his fate with that stupid stunt”

That reminds me of when Daylight Savings Time was moved up to March by GWB and that is when I really began to be fed up with the Bush family and their scams.

I like how all the democrat child groping supporters are blaming this all on Ukraine as if prices hadn’t doubled with this disgusting buffoon in office.

The reality of people at the pump is totally different. All I see is anger, cutting back on non-essential spending, etc. Recession incoming.

Most large grocery retailers have their own Warehouses, trucks, etc. and likely have fuel contracts for Diesel at much lower prices than the average consumer now.

When those expire, I suspect you will see massive price increases overnight.

Funny how one day you could be driving 61mph and get a hefty fine and a lecture about how your speed is dangerous and unsafe for you and others around you on the roadway.

Then the next day the speed limit is raised to 65 or 70 and all the sudden the same exact car on the same exact road is now deemed perfectly safe at 61mph.
