On Tuesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) reacted to President Joe Biden’s ban on U.S. imports of Russian oil and gas by stating that Congress should monitor the profits of oil companies and “profit margins should not go up. That’s just oil companies gouging when they do that. So, we’re going to be on them on this.”

Warren doesn’t seem to understand the basic law of supply and demand. The oil price is set by the world market, NOT by the oil companies.
I can’t afford our government. Our politicians are the price gougers….period!
I want to know what stock trades were made last week by Nancy Pelosi and her family before she changed her mind on Russian Oil imports on Monday.
Martha Stewart went to jail for insider trading.
Laws for thee, not for me?
when she starts slamming Big Education then I will start listening to her.
Not the government’s enumerated power.
Price controls are next followed by rationing of gasoline. Your ration to be determined by your social credit score. Minorities and illegals get the biggest ration with a bonus for being registered Democrat. White males holding jobs aren’t getting a ration.
“Big Meat” was last week’s whipping boy. They rotated to “Big Oil” this week.
Notice that “Big Pharma” is rarely in their sights, even as they kill millions of us.
Profit margin % can stay the same on a higher priced item, such as a gallon of gas, and the $ profit will go up. Do the math and you will see. Squaw Warren is probably too stupid to realize that.
Seems to me we are a free enterprise system. Government has no business telling private companies how much they can make off a gallon of gas, ESPECIALLY since the federal government makes more than the companies selling that gallon of gasoline.
I utterly detest Commie Rats . . . create problems out of thin air and try to blame the consequences on someone else. Infuriating!!!!!!!
Higher prices at the pump do not always, or even anytime, mean higher profits for the refiner or wholesaler of the motor fuel. Higher prices mean reduced consumption, as the ultimate consumer begins to engage strategies to keep consumption down, thus lower consumption. We see this with motor fuel taxes, and this is only accentuated with inflation-driven price increases. Only the entity that extracts the product from the ground has a measurable gain in profitability from ultimately higher fuel prices, and that only a relatively short-term gain, as a new equilibrium between supply and demand, based on price, is established.
If the profit margin disappears altogether, the product disappears.

OPEC Secretary General: There’s ‘no capacity’ to replace Russia’s 7 million barrels of oil per day
Biden’s begging not going to work, but we already knew that and so did Obama, or whoever is running the country.
She knows that those who listen to her are dumber than she is and she knows how to play them.
The democrat plan has been to DELIBERATELY inflate the cost of energy, so expensive so-called "green" alternates become more affordable by comparison.
After covid and the destruction of people’s lives by blue states and democrat politicians, oil shortages and hitting the final nail in the economy coffin is just what the democrats ordered to fully implement their plans.
And we’ll be told that their poll numbers went up and they won every seat in the November elections. Dispute it and we’ll be in gitmo with Jan 6th prisoners.
Margin for gas is about 5%.
The raw material, drilling and refining eat up most of the rest.
Too bad big oil is addicted to government subsidies. If they weren’t, they would tell these pinkos to pound sand.
The rat states will jack-up the tax on gas and diesel to fill their coffers. Another way to screw the resident!
“Profit Margins Should Not Go Up”
Huh? Unless it has suddenly cost more to pump oil out of ground, it seems as though that ship has sailed.
Not your call, fauxahauntus!
Monitor their net worth.
“Big oil” didn’t shut down the keystone pipeline nor did it ban Russian oil.
