BREAKING: Shell says it will stop buying Russian oil, natural gas

LONDON (AP) — Energy giant Shell said Tuesday that it will stop buying Russian oil and natural gas and shut down its service stations, aviation fuels and other operations in the country amid international pressure for companies to sever ties over the invasion of Ukraine.

The company said in a statement that it would withdraw from all Russian hydrocarbons, including crude oil, petroleum products, natural gas and liquefied natural gas, “in a phased manner.”

The decision comes just days after Ukraine’s foreign minister criticized Shell for continuing to buy Russian oil, lashing out at the company for continuing to do business with President Vladimir Putin’s government.

The U.S. oligarchs are at the ready while we fault the cozy relationship between Russia and their oligarchs. Does anyone see the hypocrisy here?

The U.S. oligarchs

Let's not forget that the GOP has made tax breaks for oligarchs a cornerstone of their political platform. This has served to make them more powerful and more anti-American.

Let me be the first to say it:

Oil is a fungible commodity.

Or that the GOPe wing of the uniparty had us waste a few trillion dollars in pointless wars in response to a $200,000 hijacking operation they were forewarned about.

Never let a crisis go to waste.

Big winners = China. Biden ran out of Afghanistan were the precious metals needed to make car batteries are located and China has been getting ready for this ‘crisis.’

At some point, we’ll get the real Thanos-style outbreak. Covid was the trial run and it worked spectacularly for the oligarchs. Billionaires’ net worth went up 20-30%.

But the global population isn’t sustainable. So next bio lab ‘leak’ will be a hemorrhagic illness with, say, a 5-10% kill rate. Covid on steroids, basically.

For the Great Reset to take place... somebody has to punch the right buttons.

None of these companies are going to watch oil go above $130 per barrel and not avail themselves of Russian oil. It'll be "branded" as someone else's oil but it'll be Russian oil. Buy low, sell high.

Just like Canadian and Mexican companies passing Chinese metals off as their own in order to avoid U.S. tariffs.

The irony of this entire sanctions’ kabuki theatre is Russia is making substantially more on its energy exports after the war than before. Europe is not importing less Russian energy after the start of the war but more, except Russia is receiving 35% more for its product than before the war because the war has driven energy prices up at least 35%. We have not cut back on importing Russian energy and China is taking all Russia will send. Even Ukraine is receiving Russian energy by letting it flow thru the pipeline to Poland and Poland reselling it back to Ukraine. The Swift sanctions sleight of hand trick was for public consumption because 20% of Russian banks were exempted and that was because Europe insisted some Russian banks not be subject to SWIFT sanctions so they could funnel payments to Russia for the Russian energy they were buying. The cold reality is Russia is making money from this war, although that is not why they started it. Meanwhile Biden is exhorting our enemies like Iran and Venezuela to produce and ship more oil after cutting US production over the last year when the only nation producing and exporting less energy this year than last is the US because of his policies

You bet they do and a whole bunch of others.

Oil is a commodity. It is commingled all the time on the way to the refineries and ultimately to the end market. How much oil is under contract to be loaded in Russian port and transported directly to a US depot for refining? Surely the media and the feral givernment would provide real facts so the average dummy like me could understand when Xiden spews about cutting out Russian oil, we would see who actually would be reneging on their contracts for Xiden.

More than likely, most of the Russian oil that is shipped goes to refineries that are closer (decreased transport costs) to Russia. The US needs to convince those countries to break their contracts thereby taking Russian oil off the market. Now there is a market shortage in the pipeline, and for future reference Russia keeping score who did the US’ bidding. So Xiden has to go “begging” to the Saudis and Iran (hey he showed good faith by giving them an easier path to making nuklear bombs) to make up for the Russian oil stoppage. In the meantime the Chinese will be all too happy to buy the Russian oil to build their reserves using US dollars. The Saudis will say “no” to Xiden. $120+/bbl at current production is bringing in cash they haven’t seen in a long time ... why increase production? Xiden screwed them over by helping Iran with the nukes. Yepp, Xiden was the “grown up in the room”, many world leaders (lie I’d bet) told him privately during the 2020 election they needed him to re-establish the US pre-eminence in the world. He has been a smashing failure.

“Meanwhile Biden is exhorting our enemies like Iran and Venezuela to produce and ship more oil after cutting US production over the last year when the only nation producing and exporting less energy this year than last is the US because of his policies.”

The recent reporting about Xiden giving away the nuklear store to Iran .... theory is it was done as a sign of “good faith” to get Iranians to pump more oil. Quid Pro FJB. oil. Long term bad for all, but he is a reactive short term thinker ... he is really in boiling water in the US which seems to not have reached any bottom yet, and he is a desperate man with diminished mental and physical capacity.
